Russia and Ukraine

Sadly he did not stop the war first day in office. It appears some actually believed that.
I didn't believe it for a nano second nor did I hold him to it. What is disgraceful is him saying boastful, inane crap
like that. More cheesy used car salesman than presidential, but most of his followers seem to like that. As I said earlier, these are odd times indeed.

Is that you and your wife in the circle? I wasn't at that one, if I recall correctly, it was a couple years before that I attended my last one. I don't recognize anyone in that picture except maybe the guy in the red sunglasses and black tee shirt wearing a lanyard looks a little familiar.
Yes that was me in the circe, Two-Tone Evert, Semi, Steve Cap, and a whole bunch. Macon, etc.

Where is semi in that picture? Up top?
Clipped off, he was to the left in the group, not shown.

There’s Colon. His name on the forum comes from the punctuation semi colon. Attended Drury and worked for Walgreens or CVS, my memory escapes me. He stayed at my place a couple times. We installed an HMF high mount exhaust on Lucy, his 05 black/red. I figured out just recently that the stock exhaust cans I sent Wuzza were off of Lucy.
Freaking great guy. One of the best.

Perhaps just throw in, that neither invasion took place during the Trump Administration
I can honestly tell you that my life doesn't revolve around Trump or what he did and didn't do.......

.......and I don't know why he is being so staunchly supported by the average good American citizen...........

If I were an American I certainly wouldn't want my son to emulate anything about him......

Know nothing about Canadians. Do you have Liberals and Conservatives? Who do you like and why?

If you ever question my reading comprehension again, I will quote this. Does Canada have Liberals and Conservatives? Lol!! Come on, man. Besides it being relevant knowledge, Bee has posted about this many, many times.

We do have liberals and conservatives and we are a multiple party country, we have Bloc Quebecois, New Democrat Party (NDP), the Green Party and independents...

I joined the military at 17 so never really followed any political party as it wasn't in my best interest to be politically aligned because I had to go do my duty regardless....I never voted once while in uniform....

Since retiring, I have found that I and many other military and first responders are more right aligned.....but are neutral right. I am neutral right with left sympathies as I care about people and their well-being so programs that fit that role are of interest to me.

I've seen enough death and misery for a few lifetimes to be honest.

I am relatively new in any political discussion so I fear that I am often clumsy and not well read.......I do know people though and I do know what leadership looks like and that to me gives me the confidence to speak on world leaders and how they relate to both their peers, enemies and citizens.....

So far I'm not impressed by the American administration....any positive accomplishes are surrounded by questionable decisions and ethics.......I definitely don't like threats made to my and other countries, nor do I like the direction the US is going as far as foreign polices and economy go.

I have a stake in this as my grand parents were born in the US and I have lots of relatives living there who discuss their lives with me quite often.....to top this off, I've spent a good deal of time there training with other special forces units and deploying with them shoulder to shoulders as brothers in arms.

Maybe my switch was pointed off?
I don’t follow much politics other than the US.

That’s apparent. It’s difficult to discuss international affairs without knowledge of what, when and where.
Genuinely sorry, my lack of filter is apparent as well.

As you mentioned in a previous post, our opinions don’t matter. Most of the time we probably also do not have enough real information to judge accurately.

I have lived in many countries, done business in even more, including Canada and I am always very grateful for being a US Citizen living in NC. Would not want to be anywhere else, probably the reason I sometimes get a bit irked at all the criticism. Most Americans have no idea how privileged they are, they need to travel, not vacation, live and work in other countries to grasp that.

100% agree........nobody really cares about how we feel and what we think and that's something we need to be perfectly clear about....once someone has their mind set, it's impossible to sway that......and I'm ok with that too.....

For me this is just a place to vent a little frustration and discuss what we are seeing and living in real time.

I've been in countries which have fallen into a failed state and have seen the results of this where militaries turned on their own citizens n order to oppress them.....it wasn't pretty....................I've been in countries where neighbor turned on neighbor and witnessed the atrocities committed.....also not pretty....

I've had to do things that most would never have had to do-some of it up close and personal in a "do or die" scenario......not fun.

But, I survived and now I'm here annoying whomever will have me, I am grateful and humbled for the privilege to do so.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I too am very happy to call where I live home...free of crime, poverty and genuinely good folk who will help you out if you need it with no strings attached.....

We both had that experience in the military. I can add that I was born, raised, educated and started my career in a country where some of that took place.

In the Middle East I recruited a lot of employees from all over the world.

What comes to mind is recruiting an Engineer from India, running a major power station. He was making around $300 a month. I paid him $2,000 to come and run five generators for me and he was in heaven. 1997.

Apparently the world has its answer as Putin orders his military to flush Ukrainian troops out of Russia, effectively telling his buddy to shove it. Looks like Zelenskyy was right. Putin cares phuque all about peace.

Blind Freddy saw that coming miles away. It's as obvious as the sneer on the creeps face

While I agree that Zelenskyy might keep a lower profile until an agreement is reached, Putin’s fear of NATO is worth discussing. He knows NATO is a defensive organization but he also knows if Ukraine joins, it would help spread a democratic philosophy in the region that is already robust, and that scares Putin.
Because of that, Ukraine’s future hangs in the balance if the agreement disallows them from joining. That is why this moment is so big for Zelenskyy and Ukraine. I trust that Trump understands the gravity, what I question is his true intent.
