To me they aren't worth the cost unless I'm racing and trying to shave a second off a lap time. On a Ducati or BMW S1000RR they make some sense IF you're tracking a bike like that but on a Busa??? Not sure about the cost vs benefit.

The other thing you might look at is who will mount tires for you. Some places won't work on CF wheels.

Sorry to be a downer but you asked for opinions. For that amount of money you could do some meaningful engine upgrades that would pay off a lot more.

I've gone through the pros and cons. It's definitely worth it for the extra performance. I'll always regret not trying them. Plus I'm already sending it to Carpenters this coming season.
I have a friend who mounts tires. Do they require extra care in mounting?

Yes. Watch the BST video on how to mount them. They do iterate that the mounting procedure is exactly the same as other wheels. But they demonstrate to mind the particular clearances. Also they suggest to keep the clamping pressure below minimal, where the wheel may actually spin slightly, in order to not stress the wheel.

Ching Ching....adding that to the long list of parts lol.
I almost started the descent into the slippery slope of crazy spending on my Bumbebee but stop-dropped and decided to just ride it as is...

I bought it used and my delve into CF fairings was more than what I paid for the bike in the first place....

For what I do with the bike, it is more than enough for me...

However that being said, it sure is interesting to see what others are doing to their bikes and the time, money and thought going into some of these builds is amazing.....

I've been meditating on it for a while. I love these new 1000s light and fast but they don't fit me well and they have small gas tanks.

The busa is so reliable comfortable with large tank ,has excellent aerodynamics. Also I ride very aggressive so the modifications I plan to make will be huge.

Basically I when done will be 220 hp and mid to high 400lbs
Excellent handling, braking and cornering but comfortable enough to ride all day. I'm going to heat wrap my headers so it won't get hot.

It will be in my opinion will be the Ultimate street bike

It will be fun for us to follow along on your adventure....

There are quite a few others on this board that are having fun building their bikes....it's almost like being on Discovery Velocity watching the builds......

Hopefully I'll be done by this summer. And I'll give a full review of how different it rides

If you are happy with your local ride road conditions , and not looking at massive power application , the carbon wheel will be fine , with due care .
I believe incidents can occur with big power , Like @michael parris heuberger mentions , DME have experienced cases of failure , but are they talking road incidents and or 600bhp+ bikes like Mikes build ? I see Mike is running what looks to me to be a aluminum rear rotor.... also would not be recommended for street .
I think if your plan is still the same as you originally envisioned and mentioned , the wheels will cope well with that power level , and your bike will be on the way to being that rare very special build , that also handles well .
What was the final weight of your Busa??

230KG full of fuel and ridden to verified weigh station . This final setup of my ex Busa was actually slightly heavier after revised clipon controls and also foot controls .
