Have you tried the KTM? I can see you on that.
No, cool looking, but no dealers anywhere close by.
There is a BMW, Ducati, Triumph dealer an hour away, where I test road the S1000S, and sat on the new Speed Triple S, otherwise it's only Japanese dealers out here.
I'm still a Suzuki guy though, and really fell for the gen3.
I'm getting my ducks in a row now, window shopping and biding my time...waiting for the right deal.

I tried my best to convince myself to bite the bullet on the Gen 3 when they were available for pre order, opted to wait til they landed and even being loyal to a T,just couldn't do it.

I've changed camps for a brand new bike which is coming home next week and its $3k cheaper and has more goodies.

The KTM is an absolute blast to ride, a little over 2000kms on it without any issues. I actually had two contracts written up between the KTM & Gen 3, test rode demo's back to back and decided that the KTM was the best fit and most value for money.

Gen 3 - $27,690
KTM - $19,500

I rode an old Duke for 1/2 a day and it's super fun to ride. Those dudes sure know how to make a bike fun to ride. That twin is an amazing engine. Would love to have ridden the RC8.

And yeah @Bumblebee no dealers here either.
With all the sporty variants KTM have shown recently I still cant understand why they haven't resurrected the RC8? They came out with the RC8C which is the Parallel twin 890 motor, but the original RC8 was before its time I think. It made 175hp with the old motor and could easily make 200 in the current form!

I think they don't want to make the compromises for a street legal bike:

Stefan Pierer's shocking announcement came in response to a question regarding KTM's return to MotoGP in 2016. Here's the reason for returning to MotoGP:

We'd like to produce a successor to the existing RC8 V-twin"¦ In which case, let's do the following: We'll stick to making a Superbike, but only for closed course usage. So it won't be homologated for sale as a streetbike. Okay? So then to produce that we will take the best prototype development arena available, which is MotoGP. And for the 2016 season there will be new rules introduced when the playing field will be leveled with a standard electronic system, so then KTM can challenge Honda, Yamaha, Ducati, Suzuki and Aprilia on an equal basis. So that's the concept for development. We'll call it the RC16 and it will also be available for the normal customer for track days or private use on track, but it won't any more be homologated for the street. It'll be a really serious sports and race item for closed course use only.

Just to make sure he was hearing things correctly, Cathcart pressed the KTM CEO and asked if there would be at least a homologated version of this machine? In answer, Pierer again said "No, because we at KTM think that a sportbike with such performance doesn't have any place on the public roads.

As soon as the RC16 is available for customers we will stop with the RC8. The design is outstanding. I would say it's still state of the art, and there is nothing else like it. It's a classic Superbike. But with the increase in safety concerns, I'm afraid bikes like this don't belong on the street, only on a closed course

Now there's a brand I wouldn't trust for long.....

It's like Victory, (now) Indian, Norton, BSA and all the others that have been resurrected only to collapse and be reborn to collapse again.

The issue is what about service, parts and eventually sales.....even the big companies are struggling and they are established.

I got the pleasure of riding with a guy that had an rc8 and I fell in love with the look of that bike. It was kind of funny because I pulled up and was drooling over his bike while he was don't the same to mine:laugh:
