I hear alot of gripes about Suzuki not making all new machines.
I have only sat on a gen3, yet to ride it.
Same for the gsxs(not the newest one).
But, I have owned and ridden enough bikes, and Suzukis to disagree.
Why try to reinvent the wheel?
If you got it right the first time, why start over?
Why not just make small changes with what you've learned about those models, after years in the real world, and add the latest tech to improve function, and update the styling?
Which is just what they do best.
I kinda like the parts interchangeability that comes with that too.
As a kid I always loved Suzukis, the looks, the name, I don't know exactly what it was. As I learned to wrench and ride, I still found them to be my favorites.
I like what they build and how they build it.
We really can't complain that this model didn't get that either...because we're gonna mod the heck out of em the way we want em anyway, lol

But they could've taken the Gen 3 and created a touring version like Kawasaki did with the GTR1400 which sold plenty and have a foot hold on reliable big bore touring bikes along side the FJR1300. What happened to creating a different breed of bikes to make others play catch up but instead it looks like they raided Yamaha part bins?.

My frustration with Suzuki is their insistence on staying in the cheap bike market. Ducati would have a Busa version with Ohlins active, CF parts everywhere, etc. This is fairly cheap as a manufacturer, no harder than it was for me to add that stuff. But it would be cool to be able to buy the ultimate Busa or a 1K with super track equipment.

Arch I agree with you, but look at most on this forum, they complain about a $18k Busa, you would drowned with the tears of a $20k plus bike.
They don't need to make many of them - but just have that mouth-watering model out there. There are a lot of people on here with $30+ Busas too. What's the big deal of Suzuki bolting on a few top-shelf parts now and then? Most Ducati's sold aren't the Superleggera V4 right? It's like they build you a bike personally.

PS: Busas (and most Suzukis for that matter) are really well-sorted bikes, I can tell you from experience that a Busa with some parts upgrades is absolutely amazing.

Suzuki is also The Smallest Japanese bike manufacturer, and they don't have their hands in as many other markets as the other makers do.
Honda and Kawasaki could afford to make bikes and break even, their other endevors could soak up the cost and then some. I wouldn't be suprised if Yamaha could as well.
Most of us want to do our own mods anyway, and what the aftermarket offers is almost always better than a manufacturer's, as they have more time and effort to invest into their specialty, whatever that may be, say luggage for example.
And yeah, I'm one of those guys iffy on a $21k new Stock Busa.
I don't want to pay high end Ducati prices.
Also, show me a 100k mile Ducati, there aren't many.
They are high maintenance, have expensive parts, and personally...are wayyy over rated.

Yamaha managed to do it with the MT10 and MT10SP.

In my opinion, the lack of massive upgrades doesn’t warrant an increase of $10k for the Gen 3 where I live, sure it comes with electronics but most was current in the GSXR and V Strom so it wasn’t like it was newly acquired. Kawasaki managed to have an Ohlins edition on the ZX14 even if it was just the rear shock.

Suzuki certainly got their money's worth out of that platform....take an old bike and rejuvenate it so it's competitive in the modern market....genius.

From all I've read, the GT is a pretty great machine.
