** The oRg Rules **

Growing pains...this is not a product of any particular issue on the oRg, just a much needed revamping based on many factors and issues as of late. We continually add new membership, lose some along the way. We all know why we stay here, and the staff are trying hard to accommodate growth while keeping focused on what we want for the site.

I'm sure some will pick the rules apart, and try to push the envelope. I'm going to tell you right now, it will not be tolerated. We are all adults and an ever-evolving group; we all bring character and charisma to one tiny piece of the web. There is very little to gain by pushing buttons in an attempt to pick the site apart. Dialogue is key, but whining never helps

Having said that, I realize there may be questions, comments and suggestions. I ask that you keep with the spirit of this site and be respectful while posting from this moment on. All member names that appear in BLUE are here to help. If you have issues that you don't want to air to the board, PM one of us. If you see a post that is crossing lines, please use the "REPORT POST" feature found in the upper right of every single post here (tiny red triangle with an exclamation point). That report feature immediately alerts staff here to the problem and we do our best to address each and every one promptly.

Please take some time to read the rules; our goal was to keep them concise. I think they fully encompass ONE factor that we expect to always be a constant here - RESPECT ONE ANOTHER ALWAYS.

Thanks everyone!!

A link to the rules is located along the top tool bar for easy reference.

Nice. The only issue I see is the part about "deemed inappropriate by Administrators and Moderators" because interpretation is up to the individual. For example, what cap might find offensive, vabusa may not. Not that I don't see that getting smoothed out eventually to where everyone kinda has an understanding of what is and is not allowed, but in the short-term, there might be issues there. :beerchug:

I understand your concerns, so I think we'll work extra hard behind the scenes to talk over items like that, to get a concensus from the staff here so it's not one person being heavy-handed. There has to be some guidance here and I assure you, none of what we do behind the scenes is done by just one person.

Thanks for your input :)

And thank you and the rest of the mods/admin here who took the time to put together a concise set of rules.

We work diligently behind the scenes at a general consensus on all issues of interpretation.

Hey, we make or break this place routinely...it's all completely in the hands of the membership and I have faith :oldcool:

And then we BAN the offending party!

Just Kidding, Just Kidding.....Don't tase me bro....

:wtf:

Im stating that it's offensive. If you have a problem with that, I dont know what to tell you. If you're gonna clean this board up, do it. dont pick and choose.

And i REALLY dont appreciate your condescending tone.

Dood - the only one having a problem with it seems to be you. Just leave it be.

No, i will NOT leave it be. Sorry. It's offensive. You jumping on me because i think its offensive (by the definitions we are using here) doesnt suddenly make it NOT offensive.

On a board where you cant say "ass" it doesnt make much sense to show one being spanked, even if it IS only a cartoon.

As I said, if this place is gonna get cleaned up, thats fine, i respect that. But *I* am pointing out that you are missing some things that should be removed, if that's truly your goal.

We (admins and mods) worked hard to come up with some rules for the oRg that seemed to encompass what we (the oRg) are all about. There was discussion about restricting things even further, but then the oRg would become a sterile environment and no one would want to post anything for fear of violating the rules.

Instead, we feel that we have come up with something that leaves things a little more open...allowing one to speak freely without harassing, attacking, etc. Yes, some things are open to interpretation, but that's why we (admins/mods) discuss things without unilaterally taking action. We want the SPIRIT of the conversation to come out - as long as it does not violate the rules.

That said, I think the emoticon used above was fine for the SPIRIT intended.

Ibified I understand your concern and appreciate your open and honest communication however, I would like to point out to you and the rest of our oRg family that the day to day business of making this site a fun/safe/productive place to visit falls on all members. It's not something that's gonna happen simply from a cut and paste by members with blue names... It starts with each and every one of us having "Personal Accountability" for our actions. So as before the Rules are merely a guideline to help openly display how we as a community plan on doing business with each other.... As to the "Emoticons" been here longer than me and I've got at least five years on you! I guess its how you read into them, for me it represents several things, none of which are derogatory or vulgar...

Ks: thank you for the explanation. I guess my frustration stems from the whole "lets clean up this board" idea. That, in and of itself, is something I can totally understand.

I know the emoticons have been here forever, and I agree that they are not offensive. that being said, I never found "a$$" offensive either. I guess I just dont understand how one can be considered offensive and the other cannot.

I'm not trying to make waves here or be difficult by ANY means, even if it comes across that way. I guess I just dont understand why we dont get rid of ALL the stuff that could be offensive.
