Different Drug Problem

Posted from elsewhere but apt:

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, “Why didn’t we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?â€￾

I replied, I had a drug problem when I was young: I was drug to church on Sunday morning. I was drug to church for weddings and funerals. I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn’t put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.

I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity. I was drug out to pull weeds in mom’s garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad’s fields. I was drug to the homes of family, friends and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood, and, if my mother had even known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.

Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say or think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin; and, if today’s children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place.

God bless the parents who drugged us.

Never saw this one before.
How true it is though, leash and muzzle the liberals screwing up this country and let us get back to parenting our children the way it should be done, the way it was done in days gone bye.
Just my humble opinion, if you do not agree with me then that is your right given to you by the service members of this country who have died for you.

You have a great point! I had room inspections on Fridays even, if I thought I was gonna go out and play on the weekends. We had the good "drugs" when we were growing up.

I think I may have a brother I didnt know about

Cause we definatly had the same parents

Well said. I was raised the same way. I thought then it was hurting me but now I realize it would have hurt me more to have had my way.

I'm not for child abuse but a good tanning of the hide, done properly, is not child abuse in my book. No discipline at all is what should be considered child abuse.

In my mind the problems all started when they took the paddle out of the classroom. I got the board a few times in school, never once did it hurt me physically, sure stung though.

My dad used to whoop my azz - I'm not talking about a beating or anything, but I didn't come to appreciate it until I got older. There is SO MUCH TROUBLE I didn't get into, mostly because I was scared to death my dad would find out and I'd pay the price. Bottom line - Pain Avoidance Therapy worked with me. Watching kids these days talk back to their parents, no respect or fear of the law, etc.; I just know they didn't get any pain avoidance therapy when they were younger and look at them now.

Glad it wasn't a repost!

tell me... seriously.... WHO makes a PROFIT out of making spankings illegal? Anyone? There must be money behind that idea or it would not have turned out that way
