Buzzard Vs Busa *Todays ride Ooouch*

Busa Busts Buzzard can see the headlines in the paper tomorrow! Glad your okay and the damage isn't extensive! Good story..man that bird is ugly ! Wardie

Thanks all - able to walk on it today. No major bruising but some, so I recon nothing is fractured or broke. Still quite a bit of pain and really tight, kinda like a bad sunburn in the impacted area.

Glad Your OK..............Now Let's See that NOS Setup :hmmm:

Thanks.. could of been worse. Nitrous setup posted here>>Nitrous Layout

Dang, I'm glad to hear you're gonna be alright. Of course it couldn't be a Robin or something. No, it had to be a giant B-52 of a bird... I should've hit him with my truck when we drove through Christiana yesterday.
Hopefully you're getting Monday off to recover some more.

Thanks... Right..just my luck. A robin would of been REALLY nice...lol Those B-52's' pack quite a wallop! Yeah.. Today I'm off - gonna try and make it out to the garage and remove the plastics to access damage and repair. I'm thinking tack "weld" from inside followed up with JB weld. We'll see, I recon plastic repair topics will be my next search topic.

You have some of the most fugged up luck of any rider I have ever seen. At least you weren't pullin' a wheelie when you hit Big Bird. :poke:

Glad this isn't another one of your hospital stories.....

Tell moma at least it wasn't one of her corn fed deers you plowed into, and I'll see your gimped up arse at work on Tues....

D
No hospitals, although I did give it some thought if the swelling did'nt go down.
My riding bud made it back out there before I did prior to us snap'n' off the pics. He said there is a dead deer in the ditch about where I hit. There were 4 buzzards on the deer carcus when he walked through. So I'm counting my blessings as it could of been much, much worse. Don't think I would of made it through a "squadron" of those suckas. I'm thankfull only one buzzard got his fill prior to me blasting by the deer fest.
See ya tomarrow, get out there and get some ride time in - Its a beautiful day.

Glad your Ok, that could have been really ugly. I dodge those things ever so ofter around here. Several narrow misses, but no hits yet.

Wow, that could have been much worse. Glad you were able to get home without any further incident. Interesting that you have crutches just laying around the house though.

ty.. Wife broke her hip last season when she was breaking in on of our horses,, so the crutches stay pretty handy in the garage these days.

Glad your OK, My group had 5 or 6 eating something dead on the Road, But the group of bird flew to the side of the road, not in the path of the bikes.
It was close.
Loomis.

Glad it worked out for you all. Think he was trying to vere back to the side of the road as I was swerving to the right of the lane. I was just going too fast for him to realize and compensate as I was coming through.

One of my worst fears is hitting a bird. Glad you are ok Bro.

Mine too - would'nt wish it on anyone; best thing to do is remain calm and tuck in tight and close to the bike. (At least it worked for me) Stay safe out there, and be on the defensive; be ready for ANYTHING.

Its in the :rulez:!!

Busa 1.
Buzzard 0.
I hope there are not rematches. Glad you are ok.

Now you have to put a buzzard sticker on the side of your fairing

Any idea how the bird managed to hit you on the right shin AND the clutch lever on the left?

Long time ago one of the C-130's in my squadron hit a buzzard (I think it was down in Panama) at maybe twice the speed you were running (~300 MPH). Bird hit the leading edge of the wing and ended up several feet inside, having severed at least one stainless steel anti-icing tubes ~1 1/2" dia., IIRC.

the irony is some (other) buzzard will end up eating this one, now you should move the dead one to the side of the road so that the next buzzard isn't dining in the middle of the road...

??? Right Shin ???
That would be damn near impossible.
Definately left shin..lol
I've also seen my share of bird strikes in the AirForce when I served a four year term as a POL specialist. (refueler for the most part) But nothing as you described. Ahhh... Fizzy (IIRC agent in JP4), one of the reasons why I believe I cannot have a son. They say that stuff destroys your male cromozons.

Funny you say that. It was hard enough to get the wifey to take the pictures. She tried to move it with a stick but broke it. Tried to give her the crutch, but she would'nt have it. She was wearing open toe sandels so that was out also. Several cars slowed to swirve to miss the carcus before one stopped to help her, or should I say, he move the bird off the road. Grabbed him by the feet and chunk'd' it in the ditch. She played up the denzel in distress routine quite well...lol

Fairing off, looks like it will be somewhat of a seemless repair. Also noticed damage to the right mirror rubber. If you look close at the pic that shows the mirror, you'll see a white spec on the rubber piece. Believe his beek punkered the rubber piece of the mirror as there is a pretty good tear in the rubber with feathers stuck in. Just ordered a new set of black satin levers from feebay, it was either black or red. Figured black would'nt take away from the stock look as much as the red, or any other color for that matter. Only aluminum set was in Tiawan...lol And a single for the price of a set.lol... I'll post up some pics when I get her back together and cleaned up.

Glad your OK man. Hit one a couple of weeks ago doing 70. Front tire took him right on the tail feathers. no damage other than my underwear:laugh: We both lived to fly another day:cheerleader:

That buzzard was either a slow reader or was one of the few buzzards that couldn't read Japanese. Otherwise he'd have understood the kanji and fled. Damn Darwin birds----.
...I dunno... 'Falco has a nack for hittin' thangs. That bird didn't stand a chance. :poke:

D

cool nitrous setup man. a buddy of mine (i learned to ride on his old r6) came around a corner just out of town here, and split a couple deer crossing the road at around 140. he won't ride streetbikes anymore. i think he's getting a cruiser now.
