YOUR BEST MACHINES

Life with machines is not ALL about bikes. I hear squeaks from guys here who want to talk about other machines in their lives like planes, cars, sailboats and shifter carts but maybe think it's inappropriate on a Busa forum.

It's not inappropriate. Hayabusa-ism is a disease that infects every part of your life from beginning to end and dictates your choice of machinery, no matter what your means, thoughout your life.

Tell me the best machines you ever owned...NO BIKES...and I'll tell you mine:

- 1980 conventional 5 liter inboard hydroplane, Chev 265 out to 302, Hilborn injection, raced 1983-86, 125 mph kilo.

- 1975 Piper Cherokee 140 low wing. Spitfire on a budget.

- Hobie Cat 16 (majorly in love with that sucker!)

- 1969 GTO. Three of them. Dragged them, used them. Loved them.

- 1991 Vette ZR1. Killer NASCAR noise and action. With a nice sound system.

- 1961 AristoCraft 2-seat outboard with a 4-cyl. Mercury 65 hp outboard. I was KING of my lake in 1963. 60 mph!!!!!! Anyone remember this beautiful mahogany speed boat?

- 1987 Porsche 928 S4. Smooth. And fast enough to kill Vettes in the curves and straights. Babe magnet.

My number one pick would have to be:

Skis
1) - 207 cm Dynastar "Duvillard pro racing stock" Omeglass, these were the real deal hand built in the race shop slalom skis.

2) - 220 cm Dynastar Descente downhill skis

3) - 215 cm Dynamic VR 27 SuperGeante super g skis

Pete you said besides motorcycles :)

Any way you get there speed and adrenaline rule!

1970 - 911T, S&W 44 mag, is that better pete

Had a Barrett lite 50 that I wish I still had. Couple of nice Browning High powers, got a polished colt anaconda 45 long colt with a 3" barrel. Had a Honda odysee(how ever its spelled) Honda 250r 4 trax that was pretty bad, got a suzuki 250r now. Chevelle s.s. with a 427 and all kinds of other **** in it.

Slap on a pair of big skiis boy and you will be the Machine, launch them on a double diamond and hang on!

Scarriest mechanical device is a 12 volt blender making Frozen Margaritas out of my BMW saddlebag.

Lighten up Pete dont be so serious, those trike pictures must have rattled ya hard mon.

I wish I had the Shelby Cobra 427 that I looked at in 1974. The engine sounded FEROCIUS.

Wish I had the pair of Head Competition skis back, that I owned in 1968. They were great skiis for me at that time. They were stolen.
Current boards Dynastar Coupe de Monde's. 195 cm.

J-105 sailboat that we finished 2nd in the
Ocean City NY Leukemia Cup two years ago.
A hot boat and crew too.

My old Colt (not GM) M-16 A-1 would be nice to have back. Properly lubed it was a serious weapon.

1995 GSXR 1100 now a 1306cc Monster

1999 Hayabusa of course.

1984 Mustang GT-blew up the 302 with Nitrous and installed a 460 bored and stroked to 514 cubic inches. The car ran 9.20s with no go juice. All throttle No bottle,To bad the chassis couldnt handle 750lbs of torque at 5000 rpm.

'65 mustang, slightly modified, my first car. I was 15, and my parents heard that I was racing a crop duster up the highway, and doing pretty good.

'70 mustang fast back. EVERY ONE, used to call it the car from the mad max movie (maybe because it was striped down to nothing with a NOS bottle bolted down where the back seat used to be.) 4-speed, 351W, burned rubber in every gear, hard, with out the NOS! Painted flat noyoucan'tseeme black. Every thing on the car was blacked out, even the windows. This car could even corner a little (stiffer springs, panard bar, HUGE sway bars)

77 Trans am bone stock, just fun to drive. More than a few bumping lessons given with the shock absorbing bumpers. On the Calif. freeways.

72 Ranchero, Factory GT 429. First day I brought it home, 120mph up a grade running on 5 cyl. (It needed plug wires).

'67 Camero, LS7 454, stock cam and pistons, ran 10.80's with a single 4-barrel carb. Stock hood lines. The car would idle at 50 mph, then smoke a set of 14x32 firestone slicks in drive, off of idle.

'69 Camero bone stock. Got more date action in this car, had to put it in out of respect.

Sprint cart, 100cc Yamaha kt. All the guys who finished from 2nd place on down hated me. Swiss made, Terry Ives motors, mechanical brakes, (which was why I could go deeper than anyone could into a turn)

'59 356 Porsche speedster, (pay attention) tube chassis, 4-speed, aluminum block (not mag) billet chromoly cylinders, forged steel rods, forged steel crank, ray-jay turbo, Weber 50 side draft. Ran a best of 9.67@ 139.99 (yes that's ¼ mile), 60 ft was 1.12. I ran 30 psi of boost on racing gas. I made a living with this car for three years.

'89 F-350 crew cab dually. Turbocharged 472ci. Gas motor. I still have this truck. It's faster than most cars at 6500 lbs. Also a 35' goose neck trailer, alum body w/ a rear drive up door.

Currently I have an'88 Uyehara FMFC chassis w/ a 94 dodge Daytona body (like you can tell by looking, half the people who see it ask if it's a vette). Lamb adjustable A arm front end, 20 lb fire supression system, strange top loader, full floater w 4.56s. I'm in the process of buying a 526 TFX alcohol motor. 14-71, dual mag, BAE heads, waterman pump, weaver dry sump. I still need the (SFI) required titanium blow bell and 3-speed Lenco. I am up grading the chassis to a "C" car.

I drive a '93 5.0 Mustang, as my every day beater, one of my clients just gave me his powerdyne blower (I just installed twin turbos for him) which I don't seem to have time to install.

And For Kawabuser:
Volkl GS P9s 210s, dynamic slalom vr27, 204s (no I don't ski in Hawaii, try to get to Vail Co. every year though)

That's about all I can remember for now, I'm sure there are some toys I owned with hurt feelings out there. (like the ski boat I had)

Nastiest ones:

87 Banshee ATV: balanced & blueprinted, big bore, 34 mm carbs and full racing pipes. Did 104 mph in the 1/4

79 F150: 429, 365 hp, 485 monstrous pounds of torque and went through a set of tires every 2 weeks.

78 Chev 4x4: Balanced and blueprinted 427, Pete Jackson gear drive,Edelbrock tunnel ram with a pair of 600's on top and even a 150hp nitrous kit for that last section of the bog. Has 15" of lift and 44" Boggers. Haven't tried the new motor yet. Still waiting to get my ignition and dual electric fans.

92 ZX-11: Big bore, cams, piped, jetted, K&N, sprockets, full oiling mods so it won't blow the damn engine from those 5th gear wheelies. I decided to skip the suspension so I could put a deposit on a Busa

The other ones I've had couldn't compare so I left them out.

I can see a pattern developing here :)
Damn Viol8r a Barret 50 ? That toy is awesome! Talk about reaching out and touching someone :).

Spike please tell me more about the 66 2+2 421. A controversy has been on that car for 33 years over its supposed 4.9 zero to 60 that Car & Driver still stands by. I had a Bonneville 327/300 same car same year yellow.
