With the price of gas, I need a good tank bag to go to school and work. Any suggestions would be great.

I've got a Joe Rocket 2-piece tank bag that works really well for me. It's got a very roomy upper section, or a low profile bottom section that zip together as needed. I usually keep them together and store my rain gear in the lower section and my luggage I'm carrying in the top. The upside is lots of room. The downside is the height makes it near impossible to tuck in tight for the occasional hig-speed run.

What are you going to carry in the bag? Maybe a tail bag that can double as a duffle would better suit you for school.

I use a Tour Master Double ! One size if I'am not carrying much and one that zipps on top if I carry alot. With both on (and you can use either as your bottom tank bag- their magnetic) I can put enough stuff in for a nice weekend

here it is...it does come with all the hardwear, but the magnetics are so strong, I don't need to use all that but magnetics...its has extendable zippers, map pocket, mesh net in main compartment...its little pricey, but when you get one like this? this is best there is...

I have an oxford tank bag too...serves me very well. Can put lots of stuff in it...tools, maps...bottled water.....once took all my jogging clothes...shoes, sweats, tops...and fit it all in there with my lunch and bottled water.

Its a high quality bag...I use just the magnets but you can fasten with clips too.....

at 153 mph....the magnets hold the bag to the tank...so you need not worry about that.
its expandable and comes with a plastic cover for the rain...it has side pockets for money, cell phones, extra glasses....my emergency tire repair kit....and is very compact....

get it....89 bucks....such a deal

so I guess I agree with hydrabusa.....

it really is terrific....the only negative is you don't get as good a tuck as you want at high speeds...but its a trade off. With the oxford tank bag, a napsack and bungee cords holding lots of stuff on my rear seat...you have great capacity to haul things for an overnight trip as I have done on numerous ocassions...

Oxford Sports here too. I've tried 4 different ones. The Ox is the best I own. I've speed tested the thing to 160 MPH with just the magnets holding it down. I have never strapped it down. Its epandable, map pocketX2,external pockets, rain cover, shoulder strap, knapsack feature, the thing works well.

I have an old Eclipse tank bag that I have had for 20+years now and has served me well. Nothing fancy but one solid piece!

Oxford all the way. Best Bag I have ever used, and worth every penny. Just sold my Oxford Panniers to Big E, same awesome quality as the bag, just don't have a use for them. Anyhow...if your trying to locate Oxford local, I believe Castle Racing Distributors import Oxford products.
