I was just wondering what would be causing the surging or bucking when in first or secound gear say under 3,000 rpms? When I hold the throttle steady in first or secound gear and its around 2,500-2,800 rpms my busa bucks, wont stay at a steady even rolling pace. Could the flapper valve be causing this? ,Im about to do the small air box mod to maybe complement the other mods I have done so far( TRE,BMC,MUZZY FULL EXHAUST,PC3),. Even when warming up the busa it sounds like it has a BIG cammed engine, is this also normal? BY the way, any one got a good map for my above set up, including the small air box mod? Thanks.

Sounds like it's lean . Especially if it's loping at warm idle .

PM and I'll send you a good map for after your box mod

I had the same problem! I got a new map from Brock and installed the GiPRO with ATRE set to 6th. Runs great now.

I regestered on brocks site last night, but I didnt realize you have to buy his stuff to get any maps, boy Ill tell you guys one thing about getting maps for my busa, its funny, of all the guys on this site with different set ups, they dont have a map site like they did on the road star warrior site or the FZ1 site.I did three custom maps for my warrior done ($750 bucks) and gave them out with no problem ,then I went and down loaded a map that a member sent me and the bike never ran better, left it that way for two years until I sold it, LOL.How come we dont have a map only site on this forum?

Guys I'm having the same problem but mine is more at like 3500-4k rpm. it just feels jerky and sputters. I have a full hindle 4-2-1 exhaust, a PCIIIR and the small airbox mod and im using the map that was on the power commander website that reads "Hindle full exhaust and stock or aftermarket air filter". should i maybe be using the one that reads "HMF 4:2:1:2 full hi-mount exhaust, Stock or aftermarket air filter, Small air box modification" since it has the small airbox mod. Thanks.

Thats the one I have on now, but it still bucks at under 3,000 rpms. Im using the hindle high mount, and small air box mod map. I tried other maps but could smell too much gas coming out the exhaust, to rich, getting a custom map in three weeks hopefully.

Advice to ward off owner induce problems when loading any new map .

Replace any PC map with the zero map first, then send the map you want to try to the PC but before that ....

USB owners should be " maximizing the resolution " while the map is open in the Power Commander program before sending to the PC .

If the PC is not on the bike of course the 9 volt power supply should be hooked up and if sending to the bike  , do it while the engine is running .

The above might help those who keep changing maps and the bike runs same O same O and or have running problems with known well made maps .

I might have left something out . Got my helmet on . bikes running and a fixing to go for a spin after tweeking my map

Sounds to me like you need to set the throttle position sensor after loading the map. If you have the PCIII there is a menu option on your Power Commander program that will allow you to set the throttle position sensor. It requires quick fingers to do it becuase you have to reset the sensor, rev the bike to about 7000 and then hit save all of which in about a 3 second window. Once that is done, your surging should go away.

Had the same problem after loading my Johnny Cheese map. Now, smooth like a baby's bottom.
