Gates got lucky when IBM accepted a stupid deal. He is a computer geek and that is it.
As a computer geek he got the software together to make the newest and most highly significant machines working. He built that and is deserving of the rewards for making it happen...but he is still just a 'puter geek.

Some say Bill... cough cough... borrowed some of the cleverness his software does from elsewhere. I know some people in the software business consider Microsoft software a monopoly and think they charge too much... but, I am not a computer software geek so I have no idea why they would say that.
