Everyone knows that the ZX12 is some to be released(what's taking so long)so guys will be gunning for thr top dog but I must say this,a very small percentage of guys that ride on the street can road race and a smaller percentage can drag race.If they are good you will probably know them from their reputation.I have said and will continue to say that the ZX12 will not outrun the Busa topend. It might(I said might)beat it in the 1/4 mile because if the stock clutch in the Busa.I have seen completely stock Busas run 9.70s in the 1/4 right off the show room floor with a 200lbs rider. When the Busa first hit the streets every R1,CBR1100xx and ZX9 owner wanted to run but not now.Just like Frank said, brush up on your skills, learn to launch, most drag races are won on the starting line.

Do you really think I'm talking sh1t or expressing my opinion.Isnt that what this board is for?Do you believe everything you read or hear? The numbers for the ZX12 in my opinion jsut dont add up.If you have a problem with this dont post on the thread.

Gixxer i have 1000.00 that a busa off the show room floor will not run a 9.70 with a 200 lbs rider. I will meet you at the track on hwy 64 in Sarasota with the cash, and bring the showroom bike.

I'm a bit further south but I would gladly make the trip for that one. I'll leave the amount wagered up to you nick. In other words whatever you can cover.

I'm not certain, but I think GoBig was basically agreeing with you, Gixxer. At least your post didn't seem like talking smack to me. A 9.7 with a 200 lb. rider would require some serious skill, though.

Ok I'm in Orlando,Some guys here with Busas are planing on a trip to Bradenton Drag strip soon.I dont know if you know the guy but his name is Scotty Jones. He bought his Busa at Space Coast Suzuki the same day he purchased it he took it to the track completety stock and ran a 9.76.I cant remember the mph.One other member on the board can back me up on this.If I remember correctly,Keith Dennis ran a quicker time on a stock Busa.

I would side with Jim on this. I have seen two riders go 9.70's and 9.80's on their bikes. Both riders weighed 160 or less and were experienced racers. One bike was lowered and was one tooth down in the front. The other bike was one tooth down and had a pipe.A 200 pound rider would have gone .2 tenths slower so I really doubt that a 200 pound rider would go 9.70's on a bike right off the floor. Most riders I see racing the Busa are going low tens at speeds in the upper 130's,which isn't to say they can't go faster. With practice,I think a 180 pound rider can and will go in the nines on a stock bike. For the record, the best Gadson could do on a bone stock 12(no lowering)was 9.78.

Gixxer1300R>>>>>Don't worry about people who take shots at you because of what you post.Your opinions are welcome and respected by most of us.I am curious as to why you don't think the 12 will be as fast or faster than the Busa(top end)assuming the number for the 12 are true(175-183@the crank and 475 pounds). The 12 was built specifically for 1/4 mile and top speed honors.

1300, was this bike "showroom" stock?

Did it retain stock ride height, gearing, etc.? I ask because the term "stock" is used rather loosely.

By the way, what do you weigh and can you go 9.7's on a showroom stocker?

The actual weight of the 12 is 463lbs. dry. The most credible crankshaft hp figure we have is 178. What that will equate to remains to be seen.

Gixx is not talking smack.
Scotty picked up his bike, drove home to get his leathers, then went to the track. Yes, he did run 9.7 in the 1/4, and he weighs over 200lbs.

If you want to throw down some cash, he might be interested.

Gixxer1300r: I'm not anywhere close to 200pds but I made 4 passes with My Bike all stock clutch and everything with 60miles on the motor and went 9.71 @ 145.5mph

After four passes I saw what I needed to see!!!

To Wronglane: Haven't run bar, on Busa, yet. Next weekend may be the first trip to the track. Tried it with just the strut, on a backroad. Much easier to launch. Clutch could almost be used a variable altitude control. Much easier than fighting the rear shock pogo-stick.. ...Hoping to have old car tire bike out, 1 or 2 weeks after.

I crashed on a Sunday ride. The only thing that was damaged was a broken clucth lever($55.00)and a slighty scratched lower faring that I already buffed out.Pretty good for going down and the bike was completely backwards.I'll take pics and post them.By the way,if that was you Eric it would have been alot worse.
