Is this a good deal or not?
OK I came across a 2010 Challenger SRT8 with 62, yes 62 miles. The car was bought by a man in Aug 2011 and unfortunately he fell ill just a week after and died in November. He left the car to his 2 daughters and they want to sell it in order to split the money. They were asking 35K for it, but are willing to accept 30k from me. It's loaded with options, sunroof, DTRL, Kicker system, and mygig. I think it pretty much has everything except nav. Here's the VIN if anyone Could decode it for me I'd appreciate it. Anyway, sorry for the long story but I wanted to give as many details about it as I could. So what do you guys think? Is this a good deal, a steal, should I hold off and try to get it for less?

Spend ur money on a 2011 or 2012 Mustang GT. will be much faster, lighter and handle far better. wait till you have to do brakes and rotors on the SRT8. NOT cheap! that car as well as the Charger has a horrible front end swaybar link design and will begin to rattle and will need to be replaced. you will want to drive it off a cliff:banghead: ask me how I know....

its a nice car but for $30k you can just buy a much nicer less problematic car. its a HEAVY car. dont get me wrong it rides really nice but there are better choices out there for the money.

and make sure ur not being scammed. estate sales are the most common scams going. make sure the title is clear of any liens as mentioned above and ascertain who actually has the title. do they have title in hand or is it at some bank on the main land?

No disrespect but this will be my second SRT8 so I'm quite familiar with them. The advice I was looking for was not about the car itself vs any other, I want advice as far as the fair market value.

fair market value? considering gas prices will likely be $5.00 a gallon by summer on the main land any gas guzzling car like an SRT8 will be worth far less then market value over the next year. the average price for a 2010 SRT8 is about $32k. of course im sure few of those have 62 miles on them but I would not say thats a steal.

its a good price tho. the navigation sux in those cars so having no nav is no big loss.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for! Thanks alot man!!!!! I hate to take advantage of their situation but I'm gonna offer 25 and hope they take it. The way I see it, there aren't many people walking around ready ti spend that kind of money for used car on a private sale... SPECIALLY here in Puerto Rico so hopefully theyll accept my new offer

That will be hell of a deal if you get it. Are gas prices any different in PR?

It's a bit more expensive here, we are paying about 93 cents a liter. I know I won't lose any money on the deal but I got to tell you, this car for this price here is unheard of. The same exact car is fetching close to 50 grand here at any dealership due to over 10K in import taxes. I'm gonna lowball briefly buy if they play hardball I will pay the 30 and be happy!

there is no denying that interior is a big plus tho especially those comfortable seats. and ur right there aint many walkn around with that kinda cash. and im sure cash talks the same language there as it does here:laugh:. u put out $25k and say take it or leave it chances they are they will take it vs someone trying to get a loan. and I cant imagine too many of those on the Island. $25k would be a score. wow dealers really hike em up that high? I guess where else u gonna go????

Not really the dealers, the import taxes are outrageous here's a screen shot from the excise tax page...

Used cars here sell for thousands more than on the mainland simply because they always hold that import tax over their value. Kinda sucks.

That line where it says "precio contributivo" is what the system says the cars worth according to the VIN. Boy of a mark up I'd say huh?

Some one in my family has a 2011 SRT8 Challenger and that thing is no slug. It also gets 25 MPG cruising at 70 MPH on the interstate. It does not handle like a big/heavy car at all, I have tried it on some of the mountain roads in the area.

I would go for that deal at $30K, but if you can get them down even more then why not.

Puerto Rico does not report to Carfax same as the states. I ran it. There's not even a history of it being sold.
Fair price, good luck

SOUS thanks for the gas milage report, thats been my main concern on the purchase of a black srt sitting at the dealership near me,ive always loved the hemi,i really wish that it would be in a cuda but the challengers lines are very similar to the cudas a bit smoother .Ive been going every day to look at the car ,when the dealer s closed, playing it safe and youknow i cannot get a price from this dealer unless i go for a test drive, imagine that but a dealer 40 miles north of me quoted me otd price of 52000,you know with the gas probably hitting 5 dollars soon i wonder if he:ll come down some, ide really like too purchase it closer to me,i imagine the service would be better if i bought from them,we will see.Sorry for cutting in to your thread but this car is driving me crazy Oh and 30000 sounds like a good deal but why not see if you can get a little more off .Ill tell you this board is great, your never left hanging, always someone there.

Sure thing, I was really surprised how well it did in the MPG area as long as your foot is not too much in the gas. The SRT8 is very quick in a straight line and in the curves. The seats are great and hold you in place for those high speed turns. They did a really nice job designing that car and it has been flawless so far. Every time this family member comes to visit, I drive the hell out of that car.
