USA Today
Wow. Suspended for 15 days w/out pay...now that is harsh...what tenure and unions don't do for the professionalism of our L.E. personnel sometimes...

On the AMA today site there's an article about a commentator for the Detroit Free Press talking about how motorcyclists shouldn't even get medical attention, and in accidents be allowed to die so they can be organ donors. Classy.

Just providing more info:

http://www.wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=3112451

Even if everyone was already on the way, he certainly shouldn't have hung up on the guy. I imagine that if I didn't think help was coming, I might do something that would injure my friend even more in trying to get him to the hospital.

It's still unprofessional behaviour.

Weeelll, it's not quite like that.

He says that Michigan is passing a law to repeal helmet laws. And since no helmets will double the injury rate among motorcyclists, why not add a rider to the law that helmetless riders should give up their rights to lifesaving steps and simply donate their organs.

I'm not agreeing with him, but I don't think he believes that all motorcyclists should donate their organs. He's just making a statement to rile people up to think about the repercussions of helmetless riders and so that he'll sell more papers.

What someone needs to do is show that no helmet laws don't increase injuries and that perhaps the greater number of SUV's, Minivans, and Light Pickups is as much a reason for the increase in injuries as no helmets.

Sorry to say its true... Another time I have to hang my head because of what some jerk did on duty... All I can say guys is some states in my opinion have sub standard background checks on officers and have substandard training. I listened to the 911 call on TV news today..... That guy should be gone! I have been an Officer for over 21 years now and it pissed me off to hear how he treated the people... Things like this strip the public faith in the police.... With a$$holes like this guy its no wonder people hate the police.... Just remember 99% are good and all they want to do is make things safer and better where they work. All it takes are a few like this guy.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Yeah, ya know, I'm not anti-union by any means, but one of the sad things is that the officer's superiors may have initiated termination proceedings and the union, through a steward of course, stepped up to point out that the officer's response did not inhibit the ems response time, blah, blah, blah, forget the administrative code for dispatchers' criteria in answering calls, blah, blah, blah, etc...you know what I mean Max? Bullshid, pure bullshid...and I agree with you on your remarks on this as well. But we all have bad days, right?

I did see a rather large artical/study that stated.....short version..

1. Number of motorcycle registrations have significanly increased in the last 10 years

2. Number of accidents have actually gone down.

3. Number of fatalities has gone up. (helmets or no-helmets did not skew the data one way or the other)

4. Did a good job of tying the fatalities to SUV type vehicles.  Mainly due to the increased impact in the upper torso, because of the larger front ends.

I'll try to locate it again.

Seems like this would be the perfect situation for a protest/picket right in front of the police station on the day that fugger comes back from his 15 day vacation.

Guys did it in front of a motorcycle dealership over the burn out incident.
At least this one would be worth travelling a few miles for and imagine the media response it would get.

With jobs like that, you've always got to keep your composure and be impartial...

A police station? It's a local government entitiy, if there was ever public property, that's it.

Plus I doubt they would get all Kent State if there was a large media contingency there.
