Weather was great but traffic was bad. Apparently two people fell off a cliff very near to where I was and attracted the onlookers. I don’t hike out onto rocky cliff edges anymore. The park is magnificient. Whenever anyone can get away they should give it a visit, especially if you like curvy roads surrounded by tall evergreens. I’m at 2,500’ and in 22 miles I’m at 5,000’ and almost in the park. Another 36 miles I dead end on the Glacier Pt. road. In some areas the forest is so thick you couldn’t walk a straight line for more than a few feet. The road is the only thing cutting through it. Other areas are ROCK. Whole mountains! Seems like small forests grow right out of solid rock faces. Standing where I was taking the pics is over 7,000’ and the most ‘chilling’ fact of the story board is that the huge rock you see directly in front of me was under a 1,000’ of glacier ice
and snow during the ice age. A thousand feet above where I was standing, at 7,000’ elevation, was the top of the glacier!
