Guys that steal bikes for parts do so with 4 guys 4 steel rods and a pick up truck.
all jump out of truck at once, 4 steal rods go thru your wheels, they pick it up, put it in back of truck and drive off to cut off your locks at their garage when they feel like it

That's one of the fastest ways to get caught too. If you see somebody dicking with a motorcycle with their helmet on, you probably just think it's the guy dicking with his own bike. If you see a group of guys jump out and load it into the back of a van, chances are you'll raise an eyebrow. Not to mention it's easier to get away on a 150mph+ motorcycle than it is in a 90mph van. I mean yeah, they want it? They'll get it; chances are they're going to look for the easiest thing to steal so best bet is to make it look like a pain in the ass. I park in an area that is motorcycles only (cement pillars no cars can fit through all the way around) while I'm in class, road lok, steering locked, buying a front disc lock and immobilizer. While I'm at work, I'm setup right in front of motorcycle parking so I keep an eye on it anyway there. I mean really, there's a point where if they steal it then bravo... I'll be pissed and sad, but impressed.

Still, people screw with my head... Thieves suck; end of story.

People who do not own a motorcycle typically don't understand the man-machine connection that many of us have with our bikes. Likely this guy is just trying to be friendly but he just doesn't understand how his interest might be interpreted as "shadey" or over-interest.

Brother I'm not saying it cause it could get done that way, I am sayin it because it DOES get done that way, every single night. it takes less then 60 seconds, as for witnesses... first most people look the other way. Second its usually done either at night or someplace there is not alot of foot traffic.

Also, I just got back from about 14 hours of riding, first three hours were through the rain with no rain gear on in 50 degree weather and at 70mph. I was not a happy camper at first... First time using a crampbuster, that... thing... is AMAZING!

I had a cramp buster for my long commute, but it is nothing compared to true cruise control. Check out the Gen II version in my signature, but the Gen I is out there to.

I would be more worried about seemingly shady people that don't say much to you regarding the bike. This guy talking, honestly to me sounds like one of those many people that don't know much about bikes, but is fascinated by them.

maybe it’s not the bike he likes:poke: j/k

I would be leery also, but maybe not enough to worry if your insurance is paid up and you take precautions with it that’s about the best you can do I would say, like others have said if they want it bad enough they can get it, let’s just hope your friends, friend is being friendly for conversation sake.

I'd just make sure to mention how you fantasize about torturing someone who was stupid enough to try and steal your bike...

:werd:

I think skydivr has a good idea here :p
