Oh yeah it coulda been much worse and happened at 1/8 mile instead of 60'. Luckily I had it slowed down mostly but the brake was locked up (I THINK) so my momentum just drove me towards the guardrail.

I keep replaying it in my head but I am missing about 3 seconds of it from when I first came off the line.... I did shift gears (I remember seeing the shift light) and was in second gear when I hit. It's crazy... I wasn't scared... i was just like OH CRAP!!!! How did I end up here??? and then PLEASE PICK MY BIKE UP!!!!!

GSX in a nutshell I launched too hard off the line, the back tire started spinning, I took a hard left turn and before I could get the bike stopped I hit the guard rail at about a 45 degree angle with the front of the bike and my left knee. Doing about 15mph.

I got pulled off the bike when my knee got pinned between the bike and the guardrail and the bike fell over on the right side and skidded about 2 feet. Low speed accident.... bike is not so pretty now .... I'm fine.. just a bunged up knee... lots of bruises.

Now starting back at square one in racing and learning how to counteract the unexpected (the back tire breaking loose... never happened to me like that before... right off the line). Also looking for better fitting gear....

Thanks for asking.... I feel like such a newbie again.
Glad your Ok. Anyone who has raced has had a spill. Sounds like you need to get some custom leathers made by Bates or someone. True they are not cheap, but your safety is worth it.

missed tha incident, glad you're ok. i was wearing knee and shin armor under my jeans for 2 seasons so far, but i've upgraded to a two piece leather suit because jeans "shred". but if i wear jeans this coming season i will wear the under armor. good for you on protecting the knee caps, they are very delicate. again good to hear you're ok.

jk.......seriously, anybody heard of any body making anything to protect the "tender" areas? I imagine a cup would be a little too uncomfotable.

I highly recommend http://www.forcefieldbodyarmour.co.uk/company.asp

I bought a back and chest protector and I barely notice that they are there. Unlike most American companies, the European ones have to test and have there armor certified to advertise it as a Protector.

The European standard has level I and level II.

Whether the certifcation process is a good thing or bad thing, is a debate like oil, tires, and polictics. Certification can slow devolpment because its more costly. But there is a good chance uncertified protection(such as CE) hasn't even been tested thoroughly.
