Okay... after my recent run-in with the guardrail, I realized armor doesn't do any good if it doesn't cover the right parts.

Being a female (and not a size 2) most pant armor is like shin guards for me. My jacket arms are also loose and the elbow pads are more like forearm pads. (Ultimately I need a fitted suit.. but that is $$$$)

I saw somewhere in a magazine about knee armor and elbow armor that you strap directly on to your legs and elbows.

Anybody ever hear of these? Where could I get them?

There's all kinds of stuff out there - here's a sample of what KneeDraggers carries:

I'm sure some of the board sponsors also have a few things to help you out. Being on the un-skinny side myself, I feel your pain. I hope the knee is back to healthy again soon!

Jules, not sure if they do your size (size 0) but "Alpinestars" make a bionic suit, "Reflex" make strap-on knee and elbow guards, bit like MotoX gear, not very comfortable i have tried them

On a serious note.

The links GunnyBusa provided are great. everything you need are in those three links.

the only other thing I would recommend is make sure you have good gloves that will protect the palms of your hands and also support for the wrists

I also wear a spine protector and highly recommend them. Your jacket may already have a pocket that one will slide into after removing the foam from it. Or they make a few that includes straps.

On really hot days I wear knee and shin guards under my jeans that hopefully will stay in place in a get off. There is also Bohn under-armor. Have you seen it?

Thats a good point right there Rick, the foam that comes with most jackets gives you a false sense of security as they offer very little to no protection. Take the faom ones out a put a real armor in.

My gloves are good to go... I think that is the only part of my body that didn't ache.... I need hip padding, knee armor, elbow armor, and my jacket already has spine/ back armor (not just the foamy stuff my joe rocket jacket has).

Is it REAL armor or just foam?

GSX in a nutshell I launched too hard off the line, the back tire started spinning, I took a hard left turn and before I could get the bike stopped I hit the guard rail at about a 45 degree angle with the front of the bike and my left knee. Doing about 15mph.

I got pulled off the bike when my knee got pinned between the bike and the guardrail and the bike fell over on the right side and skidded about 2 feet. Low speed accident.... bike is not so pretty now .... I'm fine.. just a bunged up knee... lots of bruises.

Now starting back at square one in racing and learning how to counteract the unexpected (the back tire breaking loose... never happened to me like that before... right off the line). Also looking for better fitting gear....

Thanks for asking.... I feel like such a newbie again.

Glad you are OK Jules. My Juli will need a good jacket that has some armor in it. I think the jacket we did get her is too big, plus it is a mens jackets, and I would rather see her in something fitted to her. The search continues.

Have her look at the Icon Merc Women's jacket.

I have the textile one and it is tight on the chest but after awhile you get used to it and it actually becomes comfortable.

I wish my leather jacket fit more like my Merc Jacket. The armor is also in the right places in that jacket.

**This is what my club Chic Riders is constantly speaking out about. There are more and more females on the road on bikes and we just don't have the RIGHT gear. It isn't made for US! Short legs, shorter arms, wider hips, and boobs! ICON is working with Chic Riders to design gear made for REAL WOMEN. (And not those useless... but oh so sexy.... Pink Kitty CHAPS)
