Great, next thing you know, the motorcycle laws are going to catch up with the gun laws due to the stupidity of a few.

Funny that the story made reference to the "Ruff Riders" shutting down the 60 to put on a stunt show. LA Chapter wanted to outdo the NYC chapter. Did not mention them by name but that happened while I was living out there. CHP went nutz on sportbikes for several months after that.
That was actually the inland empire chapter of the Ruff Ryders that did that. I was there that day, it was crazy there were so many bike out there that day easily over 300. They had permits for thier ride. CHP yanks them day of, So they stopped the freeway twice. Hey they tried to do it the legal way and got shut down. However even with that large number of riders and activites there were 0 accidents or arrests that day.

I am not saying they were right or wrong, just stating the facts.

Dang, sounds like they are just handing out tickets. A ticket for riding with one hand? Thats just crazy, all I can say is the LEO better have it on video of me doing this "STUNT RIDING" because im no speed freak or stunt junkie (never did a wheelie in my life),and at speeds under 50mph I do ride with one hand as long as no other vehicle is in front of me...

The law says you should not be taking your hands of the handlebars unless you want to adjust your gear etc.. and for a brief period of time only. At least thats what the cop said. He did not show up to at the court date so it got dismissed but since then I feel uneasy riding with one hand.

The "MAN" is always watching

<div class="iF-Passage"><div class="QUOTEHEAD">Quote:
<div class="QUOTE clearfix"><span class="quoteBegin"> </span>
The Internet is a factor as well. On websites and forums riders post photos and videos of their exploits. Lago says he and other law officers regularly read Los Angeles sportbike websites to gain intelligence on when and where bikers plan get-togethers.
That is why Email and PMs work wonders..

OH COME ON!!! Really people are we all gonna sit here and act above it. I bought my busa for a reason... ITS THE FASTEST I can get my hands on. Motorcycles are not safe by nature I applaud a good wheelie at 120 cause they have the nuts. I am not ashamed to be a part of the nation if that makes me an outcast then thats what I guess I am ok with. I through mine up when I can and I think everyone else should to or... or I hate to say it just go buy yourself a harley stay in the right lane and give up like the other half of the world. I am done now feel free to discount this post and sell your insanely fast busa.

I dont want to get into with anyone on the board about this street ridin, stuntin, speedin runnin from the cops...it is what it is. People make choices not all of them good and everyone breaks laws. If im goin 1 and (ahem) change passing a car goin 85 in a 55-65 most places we're both reckless driving. My vehicles capable of and equpped for higher speeds while their sports suspension button or v6 eqipped minivan or v8 equipped SUV is more likely to suffer from loss of control at higher speeds with an average driver behind the wheel. Is one person more wrong than the other?
The problem with those stats is they are not accurately depicting the segment that the article is targeting. According to MSF and USDOT most of those fatalities are alchohol related and inexperienced riders last time I checked. Youd have to go to insurance reports and police reports to find out what type of bike they were riding and what actually happened. So to relate the rise in fatalities to sportbikes and then narrow it down to stunters is inaccurate and unfair. The line "even though most are not stunters" discredits even citing those numbers in relation to this article but to the average reader they are still picturing stunters or whatever motorcycle speeds by them on the road.

Just my 2 lincolns.

I like the word "supercapable" though. Im gonna use that one haha. good day gents be safe and have fun...whatever kind of rider you choose to call yourself.

I for one have never pushed my bike into the triple digits!! It is much easier to simply twist the throttle and it gets there before you know it!

And I did not realize the Inland Empire had it's own chapter of the Ruff Riders. I lived in Rancho Cucamonga at 4th and Miliken when I was there. I will say that those guys always attracted the CHP anywhere they went. Used to go to a bike night on Thursdays right off of the 60 and the Ruff Riders would show. You would look out onto the street after they arrived and you would see CHP lurking on the corners.

Ruff Ryders are an easy target for CHP or any Highway Patrol as they are the largest international bike club. They have atleast one chapter in most major cites with larger ones having multiple chapters. They even have a european chapter. Althought they mostly ride sport bikes, there are chapters with harley divisions, even car divisions. But when ever that club rolls its always pretty deep, and 15 to 25 bikes riding in formation on the freeway will always draw attention.

Its crazy because I see people who are capable of writing that article....rolling beside me on the highway asking me to pop a wheelie. I will never upon request on the road and I usually shake my head at that person

Ummmm....errrrr....uhhhhhh......I believe the article is more a statement of social-resistance to law enforcement...indifference.....coordination of efforts......it isn't targeting the sportbike as, shall we say, some make guns the cause of murder. Done reading articles about sportbike's being the "Devil". Ding-a-lings, dipsticks, ding-dongs, and some criminal minded types have infiltrated our realm. I for one don't like it. I ride my own ride. I respect law-enforcement and what they're trying to accomplish on a daily basis. I do not acknowledge SQUIDS, as they, many, are the heart of our soaring insurance rates, and the stigma starting to tarnish our reputations as MSF / AMA, or just responsible riders, albeit high-speed at times when the conditions suit the opportunity.

Cali is where I come from, and IT WAS a nice place to live. Now, like Vegas, is a smelting pot of a lot of different types with different motives. I respect a good stunter when he pops a stand-up wheelie at 80, like Kane Friesen did to me one night, and hits the turn signal as he changed lanes and headed on down the fast lane. There wasn't anyone BUT US, on the freeway. Him, and a couple of his groupies........

As the irresponsible continue to outrun law enforcement, more will follow suit. More will die, and many will cause accidents that kill, mame, or injure others......

Just so you know, as this information comes straight from a LEO that lives next door......that makes US (H.O.G., and other "reasonably" responsible types) stick out like a sore thumb, AND THAT'S A GOOD THING...... as they realize that we're NOT the part that's causing the problem.....

Just thoughts from the twisted mind of SPUDLEY........

PS Besides, those stunters and radicals in LA County ain't got nothin'...............

on those sorted types like Lamb, BA, Charles, and all those other South SD County ORG types !!!!

Even though SQUIDS are a small percentage of the total motorcycle population, their behavior is affecting all of us.

If you ride with common sense and pick the right places to have your fun, then laws won't affect you anyway, since you'll be doing the right thing around cops and having your fun in out of the way, quiet, cop-free places right? If your stunting/speeding/screwing around in town you deserve the ticket IMO
