Spluttering on reserve

Hi

My 1999 Busa splutters big time when the reserve light comes on and if i fill her up again she id fine.Any ideas have been told it may be fuel filters?

??.Any help would be great

DON'T TRUST THE GUAGE!! my '00 has left me pushing it on the side of the road due to the sending unit being off, showing 1/4-1/8 left and being empty. go by the odometer. just my .02

If its a 99, probably the fuel filter. It is a part of the pump assy. in the tank. Expensive too!
