The thing I don’t like about photochromatic visors in general (this new electronic one included) is that they never go completely clear.

I have a photochromic visor on my X-14 and love it. It's pricey, but works great. Better than a drop-down sun visor that most fhip-ups have.

Perhaps not something many here would have thought about -- I'd actually prefer the electronic version on a ADV style helmet. I have a photochromic visor on my Klim Krios, but the vents on the beak create irregular shadows, and allow some UV to reach the visor, creating dark patches; an electronic version should create an uniform effect.

Same here. Have them on my Shoei and Arai. The Shoei is a little better than the aftermarket Arai, but no complaints of either.

I admit I’ve never personally owned a photochromatic visor but I have head from those that have about not going completely clear.

I love the them. And do you really need the damn thing to go completely clear??? Even at 4am, I can see the reflections from the eye of deer...

I only use my shield in the cold weather, rain, or at 70mph or above.
The rest of the time the shield is up, and I have on sunglasses, or safety glasses at night...I like the air flow, and keep all the vents open as well.

My HJC is the carbon model so it's very light even with the drop down visor....

I don't have a scale but I took apart 1 helmet to keep spare parts and just the drop-down piece wasn't really that heavy to me.. then again I work out a lot ....guess if you add all the moving parts....

Ive had SHOEI passive photochromic visor, it was getting dark at sunlight and clear at the evening/night. It was great, but expensive, a bit slow to tint but overall good.
