Hello all, I just recently put a DME stretch 3-7”on my Gen 2. Now I’m facing the issue of it rubbing the tail. Im about 290lbs will adjusting the preload to the max actually help or should I just get a aftermarket suspension and will that actually help. The room for play isn’t very much rather. Currently have Brock’s lowering links on it as well. Would like to keep it low but if I have to raise it up I will.

You need a new rear spring and new fork springs for your weight, and better valving would help.
The Gen2 suspension only works well for riders in the 150-200lb range.
Your only other option is a rear 'strut', which sucks, and is only an adjustable height solid rod to replace the rear shock, giving you a rigid ride, with the rear tire flex being the only rear suspension.
If the bike is beach cruiser, a strut will do, but to be street ridden, they are not recommended.
I have a friend heavier than you that had a Gen2 for years, and went with a strut.
Other than being uncomfortable, it was ok, but I'm sure the wheel, swingarm, and end-link bearings all suffered...along with his back....buy the new springs...

Appreciate the feedback, will a new spring really stop it from rubbing given theres only ~2-3” of clearance?

Glad to be here

any reason you want it that low other than preference? answer is simple for now. if you have adjustable links, use them. raise it about an inch and go from there.

Sorry to sound harsh but another answer is to lose some weight.

One of my best friends is 6'6"...295lbs...no fat, was a Navy MP, and ametuer MMA fighter for a couple years...scary dude...but great guy.
If he lost weight he'd have to lose muscle mass, which would be no good, but he doesn't even train hard, just exercise and a little weight lifting to stay in shape.
And even if he dropped 20 lbs, was shredded and skinnier...he'd still be 275 .
So, losing weight isn't an option for everyone, and another reason that they make springs for that weight.

Right, I get it that there are some geneticly big guys in the world but the majority of us weren’t made that way and could stand to lose a few pounds.
As another poster mentioned these bikes aren’t designed for 290 pound riders.

No, they aren't designed for 290 lb riders, and because as you say, most of us aren't that size...buy thankfully aftermarket springs are made so that big guys can ride and have the bike handle well for them too.:beerchug:
