When I had my bike taken 6 over, they tightened up the suspension to adjust for the increased leverage. But they also made it a little tighter for good launches. Lately the tight swing arm has been irritating me on the street, so I want to know if I loosen it will I have problems with the front lifting?

Thanks everyone.

When you say "tighten" the suspension, what exactly did they do?
Did they install a heavier spring or just stiffen the compression?
What ya can do is loosen the compression one click at a time and ride it ,see how it reacts. Going too loose will start to transfer more weight to the rear and yes it will make it easier to lift the front wheel . One thing to remember write down where you settings are at now b4 you make any adjustments ,that way you can put it back to that setting.

They tightened it by cranking the big nut on the spring tighter to compensate for the increased leverage of the 6 inches over.

How does sag fit into the stiffness equasion?

The stiffer the spring is the less the suspension will sag. I was asking for race sag, meaning you off the bike then you on the bike. I have mine set at .5" at the rear tail light, works good for me and isnt too harsh on the street. Im 64" and can cut 1.3x 60's at 235lbs suited.

I have the bike in the shop to get an air shifter installed. We will take a look at the sag and see if we can get a good balance of street vs. track.

I am missing your point.

i googled a thread that will help you measure sag. a member named jinkster wrote a guide on how to set up your suspension.
