Who likes the 08 style more than the gen I set up. This new hanger makes getting the rear wheel off and back on (by yourself) more difficult than it use to be. At least for me anyway.:banghead:

I think it is easier...are you unbolting the caliper from the bracket first ???

I like the looks better. I think the design operates more efficient. (But who needs an efficient rear brake on a Hayabusa?) And I think the design is more failsafe.

But I'm with Dan that this buggar is a PITA for R&R and could more easily cause NICKS/ Gouges on my rim(s). I not only unbolted the caliper but also removed the chain guard to gain slightly more clearance the first and only time I replaced the tire.

I'm changing Rims Soon - so I HOPE I figure out the trick to make it easier this next round.

Yes it is a pain in the rear! Compared to the gen 1! I did curse this a few times and yes I took the caliper off.

None of us on here are above helping those who don't know or seek infomation, there are plenty of people out there who don't know how to work on their bike, so don't be so fast to call people names because they ask for help. And No, the Gen I and Gen II brakes are not the same.

I really think you are acting like a squid with your comments. I am a professional auto technician with 18+ years of experience. I am also ASE certifited. In my opinion the gen 2 rear brake is a nice design, but ended up being a pain in the rear for my rear tire swap. My 02 1k is much easier to do and so is a gen 1 busa. But, Ihaven't let it stop me from working on my ride. So please keep your rude, childish comments to yourself. Others here are trying to learn something, even if it seems easier for others to do!

Wallie as we both know from reading the thresds here! There are somethings harder and easier to work on, on both gen1's and 2's. I have found the fairings to be harder to work with on, on the gen 2's, then the gen 1's. Also the rear brake caliper being a little harder to work on. My 02 1k is a piece of cake to work on. I have worked on my bikes and the gen 2 in some areas is harder to work on. I am afraid of the fairing clips breaking, where the gen 1's use bolts. Just have to take your time with the new one. I have had a few bikes and each one has had a sore spot when it cam to working on them.

Ha good idea:thumbsup:, since I've never owned a gen 1 I would have no reference point as to it being harder, hmm kinda of like if someone never rode a smaller bike and just started out on a Busa

I have a Gen 1, and I use blue painters tape to protect the paint ... when removing the fairings, I suppose it would work on the rim & caliper too.
