I am considering putting my Escort  8500 up in the windscreen area. Need some advice worth it or waste of time? Can you even see a display out in the daytime?

Someone?   We have the fastest production bike on the planet! No one has ever considered a Radar dector to fend off LEO's

You won't be able to see or hear it most of the time.... Especially at speed.
Look at getting a screamer, HUD, HARD unit, or the likes! Happy Speeding

Rhythm recently posted his solution by mounting it directly to the windscreen (with pics), and it's a first-class job. So, you can either search or maybe PM him.

Also, techmounts.com has a stem mount that will accommodate almost anything, including radar detectors.

I used silicone cement and glued the mount to my windscreen. Then I hard wired it to the fuse box and have the wires come out at the edge of the foam on the bezel on the right side.

The 8500 has a jack output and an ear bud type ear phone accessory available. I took this and spliced it into my MP3 headset and can hear it while listening to music. MP3 is mounted near the triple tree and the headset jack is wired (spliced with Escort under plastic near fuse box) and extend to under the seat. I can then plug my headphones into the outlet jack that sits right under the edge of my seat on the left hand side.

All in all it is VERY clean install, MP3 and detector can both come off with a snap, and I can hear everything in my headphones. All this can be done for less than $50 and a trip to radio shack for splitters and 2.5 mm jacks.

IMPORTANT: The 8500 earphone is required. The standard 2.5 mm headphone plug doesn't fit into the 8500 correctly. You must use the Escort earplug for audio output from the detector.

I would post pics but my Busa in the shop waiting to get mapped/dyno'd this week.

The escort 8500 is suction cup mounted to the windscreen, it's hard wired with the H.A.R.D. transmitter which acts like a tether if the suction cup mounts decides not to play well with others.

I plan on doing something like Rhythm...

I also have the Techmount but I don't prefer to use it.

i like the idea of being able to hear it through my helmet speakers

I have a Beltronics STi and have used it with the suction cups provided with it, if the forward windscreen section... But if the roads are bumpy... It's not the best idea as the suction cups will eventually let go.

I now use it with a stem stand, held on it with heavy duty velcro. I also recommend a HARD system.

I have the same setup as Powers739 and it works wonderfully well. The instant the unit picks up a signal it light up in your helmet with no attaching wires. Much better than a plug and play wire attached to your helmet to activate a speaker.

I have this it has the remote led in the helmet, it blinks so bright even in daylight! The control unit is mounted just above the GPS unit on the right.

I permanetly mounted my R/D windshield bracket to my bike windscreen using two expandable nuts, two black bolt covers, two bolts drilled through the windscreen. The R/D can easily be removed when not in use.

Here are a couple of photos with it mounted on my bike with more details on the installation.
If you need any help with doing this install Pm me.

Whose Carbon Fiber inners are those? Where did you get them?

Word of caution for newbies to either the H.A.R.D system or the Screamer.... They are both very good at alerting you. The hard system must be adjusted for night riding prior to every ride or you will be temp/blinded.. The Screamer will notify you and everyone in the next county of your detector going off so remember to turn it down when in the city...
