Questions that Hayabusa owners always want to know.

Hey all, I am working on a project and wanted to see if you could help me out a little.

Knowing what you know about the site and the history of the site, new users, old users, and information that folks are always wanting to know details about can you help me come up with a long list of questions or topics that we could provide detailed answers to.

A few things I have come up with

1. What are the best tires
2. What are the differences in the different generation of Hayabusa's
3. What oil does each generation Hayabusa use and quantity
4. What are the best options for windscreens
5.
6.
7.

This stuff is what we all discuss in the various forums. And like the forum (discussions) there will be disagreements as to what oil is best, what’s the best PSI, best tire, air/oil filter, change intervals. Some will say their chain lube made their chain last 8,000 miles and another will claim they’ve never lubed or adjusted their chain in 8,000 miles. I wouldn’t want this forum to become an information list for reference only and no discussion.

I took it to mean in addition to, hopefully not instead of discussion. We have a section on tires but other discussions get buried in threads and sometimes get missed by the search function. Maybe some specific sections where we can share info might be useful. It might take some time but if people use and post in them, it keeps the thread alive.

In addition to universal/open-ended concerns, do you want topics for specific setups where the details are not yet known? Example: I want to make 375 horsepower, what...(pistons / ECU...) Unsure of this, I included this type of category below.

- Options for losing weight, (wheels, exhaust, seats, etc.)

- ECU, fuel pump hardware for each horsepower class

- Internal hardware (piston/crank/valve) for each class

- Foot pegs

- Exhausts

- Tail eliminators, swing-arm extensions, (Why do you people do these things? Sorry, I had to insert a protest with this one.)

- Troubleshooting Hayabusa Engine codes in custom vehicles

- Rear tire options and over-sizing

- Factory Bugs and recalls (rectifier, loose clutch bolts, external fuel pump, side stand)

- Bar risers

- Handlebars, clip-ons

- Seats, including lowering options

- Brake upgrades

- Group Therapy for handling, "I can't believe such an old person rides this" comments during helmet removal.

- Sliders and maintenance stand spools

- Sprocket sizing, chain options

- Suspension adjustment, build options

- Speedometer correction

- ECU features and limitations

- Mirrors extenders, bar-end mirrors

Just put the questions down and don't try to solve the problem dude.

What is the best chain
What are the best brake pads to use
Which are the best aftermarket fairings
What is the best aftermarket exhaust
What is the best air filter
What is the best spark plugs
What is the PAIR mod
What is the best oil filter
What brand of aftermarket rims to get

Does this help at all?

Absolutely, common questions that we hear from people all the time, year after year.

Awesome, thank you !

I haven't even told anyone what the project was, folks are making assumptions on what I am going to do, stop that.

Hope I don’t repeat questions already asked, but these are the ones I always ask:

Gen 1, 2, 3, gas consumption before tuned?

Same question after tuned?

Tire make and tire size, and mileage to replacement?

Chain stretch and at which mileage?

What kind of chain maintenance?

Valve clearance check, shim adjustments needed and at what mileage?

Air filter mileage replacement interval?

Average yearly mileage?

What is used to remove dead bugs from screen and front fairings?

Which gear/rpm driving city 35mph?

Any oil analysis and what do the results show?

I’ll go in the other direction and question whether this is necessary.
I just typed in “best tires” into the search function and 8 threads popped up dealing with this.
The info is already there.

I don't think there is a meaningful answer to a question "best tires".
New generation tires are launched by most manufacturers frequently, and what is meaningful is experience shared regarding mileage, perceived grip, manufacturing issues (Dunlop road 6 recently) etc. Price and fitment comes into play also, how many weights needed to balance etc.

Flash tune? Or piggyback tune?
Better with a flash tune as I've had a fuel programmer fail and adding one is just another chain in the ability for something to fail....

A flash tune on a dyno is best....I mailed in my ECU but was able to get the map off the Bazzaz that was tuned on a dyno and sent that map so I knew my AFR was where it needed to be....
