So as some of you know I am currently in Thailand. But Ripley is not far from my thoughts and I'd like to order these smoked front turn signal lenses for her. Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R front smoke turn signal lens : eBay Motors (item 230378940611 end time Feb-14-10 13:24:10 PST)
While I'm away my Father who knows his way around a bike will do the install for me. He loves working on cars & bikes  Love ya Pops!

My question is: Without me being in front of my bike, I can not remember what is required to swap the lenses. Is it a fairly easy job? Or will he need to remove the whole front fairing? If that's the case then I'll tell him to wait for me to return to add an extra pair of hands.

Oh...and anyone who has changed lenses, would you recommend I do a bulb change while he's got it apart? And if so...what bulb do you recommend?

Thanks everyone!

Gen I or Gen II? Mine is Gen I
I did the lens change with just the top ram air covers removed. Wasn't easy, but i have had them off before while the nose was off so i knew what i was getting into. two screws each. oops just saw in your sig. GenII. Dont know if it's similar. Sorry.

But! i would go with the LED 30 towers if you are looking for something cool. https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/electrical-mods/92194-switchback-led-towers.html
Dont forget to do the LED Flasher mod that Omar wrote up. https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/electrical-mods/84848-diy-led-flasher-mod.html

OK...been spending some time looking thru GixxerHP and Omars "how-to" thread (both great threads by the way!) and this appears to be opening a larger can of worms then I thought.
Will either of their posts even apply to a GenII? Couldn't find that answer in any of them :dunno:

its 3 screws and a plug.....you may or may not have to remove the nose piece to access them.....but at minimum you will have to remove the under side of the nose and or the dash pieces....you can do the led lights without the flasher mod, all that will happen is they will flash faster then normal....not a big problem really

All I can tell you is you have to remove the nose to remove the front signal pods. :dunno:

:dunno: but I think you'll have to bake the pods if you have to remove the existing covers.

I replaced mine when I had the nose off. I think it would be possible to do without taking it off it will just take some time to do it. You might talk to Scar, IIRC he changed his out with the nose still on.

You don't have to remove the front fairing.
You can access the lenses from underneath and the top. Inner fairing panels have to come off and the lower chin cover has to come off.
I think it was one screw not 3. At the most 2. Been over a year since I changed one.
It's not too hard hard to do if he knows how to remove all the panels.

Here is a pic I took from todays HID mod and you can see a screw that holds the turn signal in. Maybe more than one, not sure.
I dont know if lense is separate or anything else other than to get to this screw you would have to take windscreen off as well as gauges and trim pieces around cluster. Again dont know about construction of lense itself but I believe what you see it pic is turn signal housing.
Easier to work on without all the HID wiring you see .

Remove the upper inner cowl. At the most you would have loosen the side cowl at the top. Easy swap. Two or three screww per. You can reach it with a short phillips, but a long makes the job easier. I swapped mine last spring. Clear alternatives smoked front and rear. The lenses separate from the housing no glue. Easy job.

Here's an idea......I've been looking everywhere to trade my SMOKED lenses for the stock ones. I have LED bulbs I made and I want them to be as bright as possible. So I am willing to trade you my smoked ones for your stock clear ones.

You do have to completely take the nose off in order to reach the lights and lenses.

By the way I have a Gen II 08 busa......
