That reads worse than our tax code. Somebody tell me how you get the general population to understand and abide by those rules?

Ny sporting clubs and gun store owners are now openly advocating disobeying the new laws and are saying they won't abide by it. The seeds are growing.

It looks like there is a grandfather clause for weapons and magazines already in possesion and a background check is required for sale, transfer, gift, blah blah. The background check is o.k. with me....If someone in my family can't pass a background check I don't want them to have my weapons(if I actually owned any) or anyone else's weapons.

I'm like you, glad I don't own weapons ( firearms ) , still concerned about someone taking liberty with the Constitution ........

I want a background check on our politicians. A persons background is none of the governments fkn business. Definitely you need to judge a person before you sell/give them a gun but that is your responsibility not the government, this is a right we are talking about here not a privilege like driving etc. For them to grandfather anything you must register first, aint going to happen. These people are strident anti constitutionalists and most of their followers are ignorant lemmings, you v=cannot be reasonable with strident socialists or fascists.

gotta hand it to those snobs in washington...they sure know how to start a revolt. LOL!

but the problem i see here is...when exactly did american citizens get BS'ed into thinking that "a well regulated militia" is the national guard?...cause just for ya'lls 411?...those words were written shortly after our forefathers fought and died on their way to winning their/our freedom and independence from oppressive british rulership..today?...the national guard is more a security force for the government (that has allowed an invasion of illegal aliens into this nation) and all paid for by the people...which coincidentally is the only organization in this nation that has fired upon the very folks who bought and paid for those rifles they used to shoot and kill 4 KSU students..cause they made it known they disagreed that policing vietnam was a great idea...4 dead in Ohio..reminds me of a song. LOL!

anyways...i'm of the opinion that the constitution was written with a strong focus and emphasis on creating some rules whereby it was FIRMLY understood that "RULERSHIP" would never happen again and made it clear that the governents (and it's elected positions) sole intent was to serve the people and not step out of bounds to once again become a rulership (like the british) for the people to once again live in impovershed fear..as they once again...serve the government in fear instead of the government serving the people.

and my what a fine job they've been doing lately hugh?..i mean police/sherrif dept. budgets are getting slashed in 1/2 while congress voted themselves another raise...crime is in full swing...our children are in harms way at schools and what are they discussing?..

1. The possible building of $842 Quadrillion dollar death stars?

2. The production and circulation of $1 Trillion Dollar denomination platinum coins?...gotta admit..that one might've been a bright idea cause just think..we could've just handed the chinese 13 of'em and called it square! LOL!...then get nuked. LOL!

and the king and all his men have lifetime security with 5" thick bulletproof glass in all their limo's along with free healthcare for life and they can even bail out the banks whenever there's an economic crisis cause lord knows we don't wanna fall off that fiscal cliff..and what scary phrase are they going to use next to extort more tax from us?...the monetary ledge?...cause i dunno about you but i fall off one of those at the end of every month when it's bill writting time and it never fails...somebodys getting lucky every month...late fees. LOL!

but we simply can't afford adequate protection to keep our school children safe hugh?..and the million $ discussion now is......get all the law abiding citizens to give up their guns? LOL!

and look what just happened today...

http://mashable.com/2013/01/26/anonymous-hack-government-website-declares-war/

imagine that...and i don't have any assault weapons..but i do have some very accurate and powerful bolt action rifles with some extremely expensive scopes...cause the way i figure?..

A. If i ever "need" a box fed automatic assault weapon?..i already screwed up and?..

B. If i ever "want" one?..i'll pick it up off the ground.

now if you'll excuse me?..think i'll smoke anothet cigarette while i still have really expensive healthcare..not that it means anything..cause while they're real good at "taking"?...

There's usually rules associated with rights. There's rules already in place concerning a felon's lack of rights to own firearms, etc..., someone convicted of certain violent crimes are unable to legally obtain a concealed permit. No right is absolute. I'm not judging anyone because I don't sell privately and I'm not giving anyone a weapon. I have had to pass intense background checks for work purposes, for concealed permits, no problem with that. Sometimes it is the Government's business. Also the bill specifies safe storage and restricting access, there's really nothing wrong with that either. I don't own any of the firearms on the proposed banned list but I'm not in favor of the weapon banning proposal either.
