I'm interested in everyone's ages and what they do, probably been done before, but humor me. :-) I'm 35, mechanical engineer.

Are you a senior member because of your age Dirty Pete? (chuckle).
How old is old? I'm 58 but that doesn't seem to make me old enough to know better than to own this bike.
I'm curious how old the rest of you guys are?

Maybe nobody else want to fess up.
Dirty Pete, the usual plane is a rental Arrow, but C152 & 172 sometimes. The boat is a Catalina 30. I suppose what they all have in common is great rewards for skilled use and nasty penalties for screwing up.
If you want to be philosophic about it, so much in our society is designed to help us avoid the consequences of our acts. But bikes, boats and planes don't let you get away with much without a consequence.
And the Busa has got a whole lot more consequence than anything else I ever rode (machine thing I'm talkin' here).

How old did you say you are? All of you guys?
My theory is that Busa owners are older because only we can afford the insurance on 1.3 litre killer bikes.

I turned 36 in July. Its good to hear that I'm not crazy for thinking i will be riding until, well I just can't ride anymore.
It is about, fun, enjoyment, competition, mental relief----there is not an age limit for that.

As i have posted here before, im 46. I spent the last two years racing 125cc shifter karts.
When i was 18 i had a mach 1 Kawasaki 500 triple, and two Suzuki T-500 two stroke twins. These were the bad bikes of the times. Im still fast. Still love speed, still looking for the edge. Any LA area bussa' owners are always welcome to contact me for an LA area bussa' get together.

97 and still driving my '36 Chevy Lumina.
I sure wish they'd stop shinking them 18 wheeler tractor trailers every year. They're getting so small you can hardly see them anymore.
This year I discovered curb riding - you keep the right two wheel up on curb and the left wheels in the street. What a rush!
The reason I'm into this Hayabusa forum is because I've had one stuck in my front grill for the past two months (or was it three months?).
Gotta go soak my teeth.

41 circles around the sun at this moment, it changes like attitude around here at times. I would guess that an average age Busonian would be about fourty, who else could afford the bike and the insurance to go with it.
I hate it when the Cowpokes make you drop age at times, but if you can't hang with the big Busa's get out!
Vegas = Party = Suzuki Y2K, be there or be old!
I was 23 when I bought my last "worlds fastest bike" 1983 GS1100 SD Katana, It also was called strange looking and futuristic. Now it sits in the corner begging to taken out and ridden.

Kids can't afford this unless their rich daddies buy it for them. I wouldn't recommend this bike to an unexperienced or first time rider. I was waiting for the ZX-12, but after looking at the "spy" pictures, I said, "that thing is damn oooooogly". I also had my sights on getting a FAT BOY from HD, but after one look at the Hayabusa, next thing I knew I was signing all the paperwork. I am 42.

Richie, thank goodness for you. I thought I was going to be the oldest codger here.
Guess I'm glad I was able to learn on small bikes when I was young and poor. Anybody remember the X6. That was once Suzuki's fastest and it was a joy to ride, too. Wish I still had it. And Honda's 305 SuperHawk. What a beauty. I couldn't afford one of those so had to settle for a used 250 Dream. But it got me from Boston to Denver one Spring even if I did lose 4th gear in those upstate NY hills and had to ride the rest of the way in 3rd.

Well.....i guess you guys were right.
There will be someone younger than me!
Your dad will probably have a heart attack if he finds out.
Remember though, just 'cause your good in the dirt, doesn't mean your a street rider.Different rules & physics apply.
Please don't do this behind your dads back....talk to him and tell him you'd like to ride & then ask him how.

I just turned 40. Been riding about two years. I started with a 1986 Yamaha race bike (6 mos), spent 3 months on my brothers TL1000S and graduated to the busa. I wasted a lot of years passing up bikes! I have some making up to do and it appears I'll do it damn fast on the busa!

I'm 29, and would definitely fall into the 'less experienced' motorcycle category. I've only driven motorcycles seriously since August of last year. The bike I had prior to the 'busa was a Honda Magna, which is definitely a different style of bike.
After discovering that I prefer the feel of a sportbike over a custom (and man, chrome is highhh maintenance), I was researching what bike to swap to. I was zeroing in on the Honda VFR800, but asked for a test drive on the 'busa through sheer curiousity. I didn't even mind the wait while they prepped it (no one had tried it there yet). One three mile excursion, and I was hooked. I bought it the next day, with it only having the 3 miles I had put on it.
I'm positive some here would likely shake their heads on the purchase, but when your wife says "Whichever bike you buy is the only one you'll be getting for a least 10 years" (gotta fit a house in there somewhere), you want to get something you know you'll have a hard time getting bored on.
I've not had a moment of remorse since buying the black/gray busa. Okay, maybe the ticket for excessive speed while passing that SUV might have had been cursing my luck for a moment, but it WAS only for a moment. I figure my inner voice will keep me in tow as I learn the ways of the cycle. When people blow by me on curvy roads, I let 'em . . . and even give them a helping hand signal if they're unsure on passing.
The 'busa is my transportation. To work, from work, to the store, etc. I'll rack up the miles soon enough. I suspect though, that the learning experience never ends, no matter how long one has been cruising along.

53 yrs young.
As a teenage I never gave m/c's any thought (other than images of Hell's Angels). Performance in a motor vehicle for me was when I fantasized about an AC Cobra going 0-60 in 4 seconds. But at 18 yrs old with $800.00 to spend my good buddy, Ted, suggested that I had enought to buy a M/C. What, is there any excitement in two wheels? Shortly thereafter, in July 64, in Memphis Tn. I was an owner of brand new Honda Super Hawk 305 (20 some rear wheel hp). The Cycle Shop's owner told his teenage son to take me out and "teach me how to ride." We unloaded the bike from his pickup truck in the middle of a suburban area, and he says, you do this to shift, brake, etc. and then he drives off! Needless to say, I had my first crash (just skinned knees and hands - no protective clothing) my first day of riding. I pushed the m/c about 1 1/2 miles back to the shop and enjoyed watching the owner nearly kill his son. But the real point of this story is the bug: the "motor" bug. Even though I had only ridden several miles before I crashed - I was hooked. Like the rest of you "lifers" I was permanently infected with the "motor" bug. Is there a better motor disease than the Busa?

I'm 52.
Most of my friends and workmates think I'm nuts for riding M/C's anyway. Now with the 'Busa' they KNOW I'm crazy!!
Keeps me slim though, a belly stops you from getting into 'full crouch' for high speed runs!!
From the posts here the average age is 41.
