I imagine so.
Trying to do near impossible tasks without you and your team getting killed cannot be the same, though I'm sure it has it's thrills in some ways.
That's a different mentality all together, I think that's obvious, even for those of us who have no idea what it's really like.
I think everyone is born with a purpose.

I just kind of fell into it....a few of my friends applied and made it so they dragged me along....ironically enough, I surpassed them and they became part of my team...

The adrenaline rush is different from racing a bike to going into harm's way but there are similarities....I used to get more sweaty and nervous before a race...it was the military which ended racing for me as I'd be deployed when the points races were being held and I'd lose the points...Suzuki and my sponsors told me to make a choice and I chose to stay in the military......I'm glad of that now that I'm retired.

Awesome / thx. Remind me to tell you the story of how I separated the engine and transmission / transfer case in my K5 Blazer to replace the trans input seal, using only a floor jack on the front and two jack stands on skateboards at the crossmember. I'm lucky to be alive...

YOU, sir, are crazier than the folks who ride the TT. Track racing is relatively safe, TT is like trying to replace a K5 Blazer tranny seal with jack stands atop skate boards...

Racing fairing to fairing can cause another rider’s bar end, or elbow, to come in contact with a lever. Wouldn't want a sudden hit on your brake lever under any condition.

They can also prevent breaking a lever in a minor crash.
Usually if they wreck they're done, but occasionally you can get back up and maybe save a few points.

First partly cloudy day in forever. Forecast looks promising for sunshine tomorrow and this moto-boy has a kitchen pass to ride!

Great ride today. Sun came out, frost burned off the roads, and I got to hook up with some buds from a motorcycle club I used to hang with. My how time flies.

The 'Busa was great. We hit some Portland favorites, including Skyline up above the snow line. A bit of grit and moisture in the center of the lane during the shady sections kept enthusiasm in check.

The clear day allowed amazing views of the snow covered Mt Hood, St Helens and Adams.

The Suzuki was a delight in the 30-60 mph up - down / back -forth. We road, we cornered, we hurled.

So, I did get to take my first "serious" rip on the 1300 up the entrance ramp today. Line of sight +/- quarter mile, zero traffic, go! I think that I was shifting around 7k. It was actually disorienting. I loved it. What a machine.

On the last leg home a last gen Stingray went flying by me. Wanting to represent I throttled up to an indicated buck 20 for a few miles.

What a ride.

I hate a gripper seat cover...your pants stick and then you slide around inside them.
But, I ride like a rag doll anyway, and let the bike float around under me.
I usually have control by 2 fingers on the the throttle, the other 2 covering the brake, and a couple toes on a peg, the other hand or foot are extra, and for just in case, lol

It’s been a while since I’ve ridden a street bike. This is way more bike than I need. But, I suppose, that’s the point. I can see your point about permitting, within reason, the bike to move independently of the rider. I gained back some confidence today in the tires grip and my abilities. Very pleased.

Keep up with the psi too,
a little change goes a long way, and some tires are more finicky that others.

They help in a lowside crash.
They'll grind the road vs the stator cover itself, saving you from and oil leak and possibly damaged stator.
It doesn't take much to crack or grind through the thin, cast aluminum stator cover.
