This might be a weird question but still need to find out. In the image there is a bule arrow pointing at a hole on the gen 2 motor which exists on both sides. Any idea what they are there for? I need to loose both but need to make sure I am not missing something like some special engine support or simply used during the engine manufacturing process . Thanks

i guess these two appendices are retaining lugs only for clamping the engine for assembling of the engine in the factory.

for usual street use there is nothing fastened on.
neither at gen1 nor at gen 2 (at gen3 i suppose the same)

Manufacturing dowels for machining operations. The cases can be accurately re-located in a subsequent fixturings where the functional datum isn't accessible or suitable for locating the part. It is possible they are also used during assembly.

A similar yet bizarre thing with my new Cub Cadet snowblower...

It has a fill/dipstick for oil, a drain and I saw another port complete with yellow twist off cap on the lower part of the engine....I said to myself why would it have this yellow removeable cap....?

In the owners manual it states "do not use-for manufacturing process only to fill crankcase"

Might be fixed on for some specific reasons while manufacturing coz I'm not exactly sure about its function but company products would never be lame at all.
