My '00 Busa just yesterday showed no neutral light and wouldn't start with the kickstand down in neut. (just like it is in gear). Sometimes light comes on and all is ok. I've been looking at shop manual. could be switch or relay? Looking to see if it's a common problem.

Your Gear Position Switch is probably going bad.
ECM malfunction, Gear Postion circuit open or short, Gear Position swithch malfunction.

Turn the ignition swithch off. Check the GP switch coupler for loose or poor contacts. If ok, then measure the GP swithch voltage. Support the motocycle with a jack. Turn the side stand to up-right positio. Turn the engine stop switch On. Insert a copper wire to the lead wire coupler. Turn the ignition swithch on. Measure the voltage at the wire side coupler between the Pink wire and ground, when shifting the gearshift lever from 1st to top.

Gear Position switch voltage: more than 0.6v
Pink is ground !

''GP sensor is located on the lefthand side under your gas tank next to the frame and it is a white coupler connector .''
