Greetings,

Getting ready for a new exhaust system install and read in the service manual to use Permatex brand exhaust sealer on the new gaskets that mount to the head.

Is it needed or would you recommend using this per service manual instructions?

thank you in advance...

hogger...

I think thats just a precaution to prevent leaks. I didn't use anything except the old (2K mi) gaskets and didn't have any leaks.
I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything if you wanted to use it. Probably just a little more work to remove it if you ever put in new gaskets.

i used the permatex on the headers and the mid pipe where they join together but nothing on the gaskets, i didn't even change my gaskets with my old yosh pipe but did it with the brock one.

I didn't use any on my Yosh system, but I did change the gaskets in the exhaust port.

When I removed the stock headers from mine I didn't find any evidence of a sealant on the gaskets. Everything was clean, I simply installed new gaskets with the new system.

It's cheep and can't hurt. beats the hell out of tearing it apart later if it does leak IMHO.
