Just got my carbon inner panels from Muzzy and they look kind of crapy in my opinion.
Got a bunch of what look like scratches in the finish. This is the first carbon stuff ive bought so I'm not sure what is sop with this stuff. Its hard to see in the pics but it is really noticeable.
Anybody else got carbon from Muzzy?

If you want good carbon fiber then ask KawAbuser for the A-Tech parts from Japan.
I'm sure you will not be dissapointed.

I'm sorry to hear that your stuff came in at anything less than show condition. I ordered the same panels on 2/11/00 but have not seen anything yet. I thought Muzzy would provide a good product, and they were expensive enought you shouldn't have to refinish them. Hope they turn out OK for you. Jack.

I just got the dash panels from Muzzy also(tired of waiting for delivery from other sources) and I think what jimjib is refering to is not surface scratches but what appear to be lines in the carbon that seem to dissapear when the part is looked at from a different angle.

Is this normal for a quality part?

Is this a molding issue?

Thanks

maybe this happened during shipping?use some fine cut paint cleaner and some glazing compound and it should be better than new.

Upon further examination these parts are not of the highest caliber, in fact I am returning mine. Obviously these are highly visible comsmetic parts and they are not acceptable quality.

To say these panels are highly visable is an understatement. They are one of the first things you see! If I ever receive mine, I will also return them if not excellent quality. I was told last week they would ship 3/1, but must be in same shipment as yellow box ordered 2 1/2 months ago!! If KawAbuser has these panels I've never heard mention of them. Will have to check with him if mine turn out to be duds also. Guess I'm a little disappointed as I expected only the best from a company like Muzzy. Jack.

Philo,
How much more than the $200 Muzzy parts do Jack have to fork over, if I may ask? Don't mind paying for good equipment! Jack.

The a-tach parts are the best out there, I have the half fairings and they are works of art.

They were not surface scratches , it looked more like damaged fibers to me. You could also see a white substance between some of the fibers in some areas. When I turned the panels over, there were lots of wrinkles and folded over fabric. As I said before, this is the first carbon I have ever purchased but it looked pretty crappy to me. I called muzzy and they were nice enough and said they would exchange them, so back they went. I will let you guys know how the replacements look but I'm not
optimistic.
