I bought oil $3.50 a qt and a filter $12.00. Seems pretty high. Just wondering if anyone has a good source for engine oil and filters.

Yeah you got clipped on the filter . Kawasaki hurts a little worse .

I used the *Purolator ML 16818 filter . It's a friggin great one for under 6 bucks . ProFlo is another OK Zuki filter than can be bought through a Parts Unlimited dealer for low cost .

You can run near any HD 15w-40 mineral oil meeting minimum spec of CI4 - CI4+ and get the same basic wear protection of the Zuki mineral oil for a cost of less than 10 buck a gallon . Even in Arizona but thing is they shear to a 30wt in short order if ran hard and factor in some fuel dillution it will thin out even more so iffin you go that route , keep on top of the oil changes .

These Busa's don't like 30wt mineral oil in them during high ambient , hard riding . They can talk back by spinning rod bearings .

You could switch to a "good" synthetic and with that filter just change oil anually and be ahead money and time wise . The better synthetic oils will do 12 months service time easily depending on miles and usage .

If your friends with the local Zuki parts manager , he can sell you the new Zuki 15w-50 synthetic for right at 6 bucks a quart . You can buy Redline from Summit Racing for less than 8 bucks , free shipping no sales tax most states . Or go to synergynracing.com and buy a case of 15w-50- six 1 gallons and get a bud to split it with you . Onoffroad.com sells the Maxima reasonable .

I've seen them all just about through analysis and there's some overpriced fair to middling oils and some pure junk so if you "Copperone" have any oils in mind other than the above and want more info just shoot me a PM .

That's what I'm paying for oil and filter from the dealer, and eventhough the book says you can skip the filter a bunch, I'm an oil and filter every change guy.
