That and if you ride enough to require regular maintenance like oil changes and what not. There is a local here that had his Honda 954 completely chromed as far as plastics, frame, gas tank, wheels and other nick nacks. He was pissed when he started losing at the bike shows after a few years or so because his plastics started chipping and cracking from stress and heat from riding and removal for preventative maintenance. That's what happen to the tank trim you see in the picture buy the way is a buddies bike that I am fixing his broken clutch spring problem. He has a set of plastic trims that go between the main fairing and gas tank that was chromed also and looked good when he first got them but now. Chip away, Chip away! Like the song Sail away!

Just think about the chrome power tapes you see in in the hardware stores. Now imagine how they start to look after a few years or so! I use to work for Cooper Tools Lufkin Division in Apex NC and I seen the process for chroming plastic. I was an Electrician out there for about 2 years!

If you want chrome switch housings the best thing would probably be the metal ones like Roaring Toyz sells. I don't have them and probably wont plan on getting any but if lots of chrome is your thing then go for that.

You know nothing about bikes and you buy a Busa? Nice.

Why don't you read and study up before you kill yourself. Unless though that you bought it for a status thing and no matter what we say it's falling on deaf ears. Please don't be one of those riders.

Be smart and ride smart.

You've done the equivalent of deciding to buy your first car and getting an Enzo.

+10000

perfectly said, this is a very powerful bike and definitly not a starter bike. Get use to the bike (atleat 10000+ miles) before even thinking of mods like streching or power. Its your first bike its plenty fast way to fast to start with.
Mine has 41,000 miles on only oil that touches it is suzuki motor oil. The book calls for it because under normal riding it is recommended. If you hot rod it you may need synthetic, however, I have heard you needed 4000 to 8000 miles before switching to synthetic.

Ahh! Come off it! I bought my Hayabusa for my first bike when l was around 24yrs old and had never ridden a motorcycle or dirt bike for that matter. I have seen more people climb off of Liter bikes, 750s and 600s and wreck their new hayabusa within 2wks to 1yr of owning it. It is not a good idea to think if you can one bike you can ride them all. That's what put a lot of riders in the hospital or the dirt.

Hey man just enjoy your new ride and forget about the hype. You can get hurt or even killed on a bicycle. Anything that you don't respect can hurt or kill you!

+1 on this. The busa is my first bike as well. I've riding it for over 3 years with 50,000+ miles without incident. It depends on you and if you are going to be hard headed or not. If you don't respect the beast, then expect to get bitten:whistle:

Do a fresh oil change, remove the battery, and put her on stands, and put a cover on it. Make sure the cover will breathe, you dont want it trapping moisture.

in lieu of removing the battery, you could also put a battery tender on it. That's what I've always done.

Domoe: motorcycle stands. redline is a sponsor here - check them out.

didnt say that to be a smartazz or anything, just easier to point you in the direction of a sponsor.

Stands for sportbikes come in pairs...one for the front wheel and one for the rear that lifts the bike by the swingarm.

Front Stand:

I know many of you think that I should not have bought a busa for my first bike. Just so that you know I am glad that I did. My bike is confy on the highway has plenty of power in all aspects. I don't know for sure but i am willing to bet that the 250 ninja forum ain't this cool. so the answer is yes, you should by a busa for you first bike.

Man don't listen to these dudes when it comes to the "busa as a first bike thing" it's all relative to ones personal experience or lack of. If your a fool and don't ride safe you will be the same fool on anything and if you started small and then went to the Busa you would be like (holly crap!) but because it's your first your oblivious to that, anyway nice ride enjoy it, always get what you want and be responsible, you control the bike not the other way around.

I'm a former Marine, 53 yrs old and 300 lbs. I bought a new BKing (same Hayabusa motor) and I had never touched a bike before. I have 2700 miles on it and have loved every minute of it. Oh, and I'm an andrenalin junkie..... but I ride very safely and conservative, but open it up if the road is right for it. Enjoy!
