(Slicksnchicks @ Nov. 14 2006,19:04) Actually I left work and am now home..  Wow so because I ride in shorts and t-shirts sometimes im a squid?  I don't always ride like a "gear junkie" especially when im cruisin down A1A or up in Tomoka state park and im more comfortable out of my pants, jacket and boots.  I always however wear a helmet.  I realize other drivers are a danger to me but thats a risk im sometimes willing to take in shorts and t-shirt.  So if that makes me a squid then whatever.  This post was meant to be a well spirited joke as Hillsrider and others took it.  Either way I have perfect riding weather and when in permits and im in the mood, I will ride with shorts and a t-shirt...  I always thought a squid was someone riding like an asshat through traffic or on city streets with no regard for others or themselves..anyways...my 2 cents....maybe Ill ride up to ale house or wing house now in my squid costume.

I'm with you, bro. I'm not a 'gear junkie' either. I wear whatever I want. I haven't ridden in shorts/t-shirt in a very long time, but I do ride in just a t-shirt/jeans all the time in LA. Riding in jeans and a t-shirt doesn't make you a squid. But it might get you a low member rating from anal retentive geezers here that probably toss on leather pants and a leather jacket to ride 2 miles for a pack of cigarettes...

But if I'm going for an actual 'ride' where I'll be taking canyon roads or curvy ones... or where I know I'll be pushing 150mph... then I'll wear my gloves and my armor jacket. Right now I usually just wear my regular leather jacket and jeans when I'm riding at night. If it's in the daytime, I'll wear jeans and a t-shirt... because in Hollywood traffic, you're not going to be doing much higher than 70mph from light to light. Of course... I always wear a helmet. It's the law.

Mmm, love Alaska, it's an even 0 and blowing 30mph. Takes four layers to stay warm filling the truck with gas.

1. It's 65-72 here in my part of FL.
2. We prefer the term "Gear Nazi"...sounds more intimidating.
3. Most people here like the skin they have and don't prefer torturesque pain.
4. It's your choice to wear gear or not...so ride on and pray you never go down (like that will never happen).
5. Don't expect any sympathy for your roadrash after you go down...hopefully that's all it will be...somebody needs to send this guy some aftermath pics/vids.
6. Squids are those that ride wreckless on public roads endangering others...not wearing any gear just shows lack of common sense.
7. Best of luck to ya'.

I would say calling yourself a gear nazi because of the way you ride shows less common sense. I have seen the aftermath and know what to expect for the most part. I realize I dont control other people on the road but im not putting on full gear to ride 30-35mph for an hour or two. I'll be on the look out for the awesome "gear nazis"....

For all you guys that still have great weather, it is 44 here with a wind chill of 30 and it is raining. I hope you park your bike safely, then fall down and skin your knee.

I wear a t-shirt when I ride to work, but there are people on bicycles that pass me and those guys aren't even wearing helmets.

Oh yeah. It's 80F here.

Pan, I know we have all discussed this in the past but I'm going to ask you again anyway - what do you think happens to naked flesh on pavement at 70mph? (look at your original post - I highlighted a section that this question pertains to.) You act like we're a$$holes for wearing protection. And it's true what they say about most accidents happening less then 2 miles from home so having said that, this guy you describe in your words "anal retentive geezers here that probably toss on leather pants and a leather jacket to ride 2 miles for a pack of cigarettes" is wrong for not wanting to get hurt?

Knowing Pan , he's probably got some of those knit gloves and his jacket is a stylin' .2 mm leather jacket from the GAP meant to wear w/ a button down shirt.

it's funny you mention that because one of the guys that I work with wears his Member's Only jacket to work every day. It's the original one he bought back in the day when those were in style. Anyway we always tell him that he's the only member. That's my little Member's Only story.
