I rode a Zero enduro style bike and all you could hear was the chain...it was pretty torquey though and had instant power, lots to bring the front tire up easily...
It was an odd experience though.
In all reality, an E Bike would be all I really need as I don't ride very far or long these days....one of those Lightning bikes would work nicely for me I think.
That being said, they'll have to pry the keys to my Bumblebee out of my cold, dead hands....
