is Busa the right bike? hello from potential Busa rider!

As for long distance riding, my 2008 Busa has never known a sub-300 mile day. The only mods I've done toward comfort were a Throttlemeister and a Puig Racing Screen. Both of those are luxuries more than necessities.

Cool factor? Come on, you're talking about the HAYABUSA! Everybody loves a Busa. It always draws lots of attention and questions. It's kinda funny how people treat it like some sort of mythical creature. And there's always the guy that says he'd kill himself on one of these things...

It really is a great bike, and I've loved every minute of owning it.

that's a cool shot, chattanoogabusa. i am pretty convinced that the Busa is pillion-friendly! need no more evidence!

i have the Throttlemeister on my F4 as well. it was handy (!) during my trip to Indy for the MotoGP. i would get the DoubleBubble screen as well (and the gel seat).

Heard a lot about F4 stator problems etc. Fab machine, but for that
kind of $ should be as reliable as a Busa. Heard of Busa owners 1999
with 70,000 miles, runs like nu, with very little maintenance.

actually, i never had any starter issue (assuming that's what you meant). major issue is that it runs hot! i have done a list of mods to keep it cool, as are most other F4 riders. the battery is weak. it drains easily. i had to uninstall the Scorpio alarm due to that. still it's an issue!

the bike has it's flaws; but, i love it! i am a huge Ducati fan as well. but, it took me a lot of soul searching and hair-pulling to go with the MV. at some point, i see myself having a Ducati as well; but, i would always have a MV!

i have no doubt that the Busa would be pretty reliable.

thanks, majestic12. i did check it out. the pillion seat is big and looks comfy. after upgrading it to a gel seat, it should be even better.

i went over to a local dealer and checked it out. they have a black one on the floor. i never considered a sport-touring before. so, first time with the Busa up close and personal. looked big and mean. the seat is low with my feet flat on the ground. on my F4, i can't do that! i am 5'8". so, i felt confident.

the bike did feel heavy. side-to-side motion revealed that. it is wide. the mirrors seem very functional. i could actually see behind me! the pillion seat is big and not high. upgrading to gel seats would make the seats more comfy. with the double-bubble and throttlemeister, it should be a good tourer. bar risers can be an option; have to consider after some seat time.

all in all, i was impressed. i think the Busa would be a nice second bike with my F4. it would serve my requirements nicely. it ticks all the boxes. so, the next step is to look for a white one! my MV dealer has a black one that i checked out. i think the white (with the blue graphics) looks cool, in my view. i am gonna have to call around!

you are right, phil96. the Brutale is a beautiful bike! i did consider it, as a second bike. but, it didn't meet the criteria! besides, just this afternoon, the service manager did point out the familiar issues: the battery running down, parts issues, uncertainty with MV's future (it is back in the market!!), etc.

Slip-ons will save some weight, but with no real performance gain. A full system will save a lot of weight and add power. There is no shortage of aftermarket parts for this bike, so you have a ton of choices.

I will warn you that with the purchase of her you will fall into this never ending state of mind called modding. You will eat sleep and dream modding, options are limitless.

thanks. and, no kidding! i suspect, the Busa could be the only production bike with unimaginable level of possibilities for mods. it is incredible. but, i am pretty careful with my mods! :-) conservative, in certain, very limited, ways.

Check out Akrapovic, TiForce with 480mm cans, and Yoshimura R-77. Those are all good full systems without too much noise at low RPMs. I did a lot of research on youtube before deciding on TiForce.
