We love to explore ghost towns and Bodie did not let us down. Located just east of Hwy 395 and south of Bridgeport, this gold rush town was occupied until around 1932. Since then it has become a state park to protect it. Amazing place, and please take note, most of it has burned down. What remains now is only a small portion of the original town.

Well worth the visit. I somehow missed a few buildings, the mine is off limits, but very cool place. Didn't take any pictures of the cemetery. Lots of families, babies, children buried there. Hard life. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Great pics! Hard to believe that stuff is still inside the buildings. Can you ride right up to the buildings? I saw tire tracks but no vehicles. Wonder if anyone lives there.

I was wondering that also. Is this a museum sort of place or was the town actually left that way? Why did people leave and when did that happen? Very cool.
