How Romney made most of his money

Every one (republicans) brag on how and what a great business man Romnye is. How they much rather have a business man run the country ..Blah blah blah.
So how did he make it with Bain. " Pirate Equity"

Here is how Pirate Equity works:

Pirate Equity firms make fortunes by buying companies using a lot of leverage. They use very little actual cash. They then load the company down with loans and/or junk bonds, i.e. lots and lots of debt. They use the newly acquired (stolen) company’s assets as collateral. And what do they do with all that cash from those loans? Use it to help the company, buy equipment, expand markets, etc?? No !!

They suck out all the cash with dividends to themselves, then later they make more money by taking the company public again and quickly abandoning it, or selling it at a higher price to a buyer who is only interested in it solely because of the cost advantages of the newly reduced workforce. That is of course if the company doesn’t go bankrupt first, which is the case in the vast majority of leveraged buyouts. Those sucked out / cash poor companies will take a decade to work off their debt and almost all go under trying, destroying the livelihoods of everyday workers who in some cases have worked their entire adult lives at these companies.

Yep, Mitt understands America and particularly the middle class. He has put a ton of them out of work as he represents his core aristocratic beliefs so very well .
There might be a few sucesses but the majoirty NOT! This is what he will do to middle America. Suck the life out of them. Yep just what we need..

Kinda like a goverment who sells bonds (promissary notes), who then buys them back with cash they just print with their handy-dandy cash printer out back (QEI-III)?

Ya know, it ain't just Mitt. In general, the only way to be "rich" is through leveraging the assets or labor of many others. Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, Sports Players, etc...they all "make" their fortunes by selling their ideas or skills for the hard earned cash of others. No one is truly "worth" $5,000/hour. Such wages or wealth is only possible through the labor of others. And the "others" are the ones that are working for real/average wages.

That said, pirate equity, as it's apparently called, is an old and sinister and dishonorable technique. But perfectly legal. Of course, why wouldn't it be legal. MANY wealthy business folks use the technique and we have a bunch of wealthy folks running the country, so, of course, they WRITE LAWS that favor thier buisness practices. It's almost funny. Almost. :/

These facts are all over the place. Most take overs end up this way. Romney was the head of Bain Capital. Where have you been? That is what they do(bain)

"Kinda like a goverment who sells bonds (promissary notes), who then buys them back with cash they just print with their handy-dandy cash printer out back (QEI-III)? "

This statement has nothing to do with what I said earlier. Even if its true ist's irrelevant to my point. Avoiding the facts by directing the attention somewhere else. It's like saying "hey you thief you stole my money and the response is but wait he stole twice as much as I did" Two wrongs don't make a right. The fact is they were corporate raiders and what i wrote above is what they do. Hostile take overs.

Why are financially viable established business borrowing money....

Bain hasn't ruined anymore businesses, than payday loans caused an individual to go broke

With 12.5 million unemployed ( that's the number still drawing unemployment ) I can only imagine many more are unemployed. Add to that the folks that have never worked and can't find jobs in our wrecked economy.

I think it's time we let someone else have a try.

More to the point, if we don't like how the government is currenlty operating, we're not likely to change it by installing an individual that operates the same way.

so what do you want? Communism? If you provide a legal service, it ruins a company because they cannot manage themselves in a proper manner, what should you do?

Companies have used bain capital and been successful just as people have used payday loans and been successful.

have you ever owned a business?

Easy, you are right a frivilous response, so I'll respond better:

I don't believe in corporate raiders either.

In most PRIVATE EQUITY firms (as compared to pirate equity), private investors buy into companies or opportunites WITH PRIVATE MONEY as opposed to GOVERNMENT/TAXPAYER money that they see have an opportunity to provide a profit. A good idea, a smart person, whatever. And for taking that risk and getting in early, they sometimes make out BIG. My cousin (who I WISH would adopt me) started a company based on private equity (the invested $2MIL) that was bought by Yahoo in the 90's for $100MIL....that's the nature of the game. Some of them are legit. In any case, someone, somewhere, whether it be a bank thru borrowed dollars, or investor dollars, invested PRIVATE funds. Yet now we have a GOVERNMENT, using our tax dollars, doing the same and really doesn't seem to expect a profit..

You equate Mitt to Gordon Gecko. IF that was really all Bain Capital did, you'd think that would be all the press and Obama would need to sink him, yet that's not whats being reported - and you know the press would latch onto that much harder than the 47% fiasco. One of the companies that Bain invested in and help start was STAPLES, so apparently corporate raiding wasn't ALL that Bain has been doing...how many jobs you figure THAT created?

They didn't hire Mitt to run the Olympic Games to FAIL, they hired him to make it happen, and he did.

So again, name your source please so we can all take a look at this accusal and make up our own minds regarding it's validity.

FWIW, if I remember correctly, Bain invested in Staples when it was a single store on the east coast, not after they were everywhere like they are now. During the time Staples was experiencing extreme growth, Romney sat on their Board of Directors. Surely he gained some business expereince there, wouldn't you think?

LMAO! do you have any idea what your even talking about? apparetly not!

"Pirate equity"? really? the next time you google Private equity try to learn how to copy and paste correctly and spell it right. your post doesnt even warrant a debate cause your absolutely clueless in what ur writing.....

I always find it amusing when someone just googles something and then copy and paste's it to pawn it off as their own thought.....lol

BainCapital created TEN'S of THOUSAND'S of jobs! the firm delivered better returns to its investors than those investors would have earned in the stock market by a LOT! a real lot! like BILLION'S of dollars to its investors.

was it a "Pirate equity" that bailed out the 2002 winter olympics as well? lol or just maybe it was a brillant business man.

he is Mr. flip-flop I will say but he's also a brillant business man! not a great business man but a BRILLANT one!

What kills me is all the peeps suddenly thinking things are good and getting better, CBS all giddy & cheerleading:banghead: The data does not look so good. And, with all the money blown in the last 4 years we should at least all be sitting drinking Champagne @ the beach somewhere, at least to drown the guilt. I mean with the bill we're dumping on posterity. I have no clue where people think we are supposed to build wealth in leiu of business, lotteries or gold mines??? :banghead:
