O.K. I know this is a hayabusa forum but my friend needs some help with a Yamaha R1. We are getting ready for biketoberfest and as we were all working out minor bike maintanence when his instrument cluster went bad. The only ones we can find in the immediate area (because we need it by wednesday) are for the same year r6. Now the question is, would it work. they appear to be the same except for the analog tach. He can switch tach face plates to get the correct redline and etc, but does anyone know if it will work. They are different part numbers, but appear to be the same size shape reading and same number of pins where the harness plugs in.
Or does anyone have an 2002 R1 gauge cluster they would part with for a decent price? Shipped to fl, overnight or within a few hours of where we live.

I told him there were some good people with a lot of knowledge on this sight that could probably give me an answer asap. Thanks in advance.....

Call John Cohorn at Turn One Perfomrance and Graphics - he may have a good answer for you..
850-626-0539 Tell him Shawn Hughes, the Marine from Whiting with the Blue and Silver Busa told you he might be able to help... It has been a couple years, but even if he doesn't remember me, he might remember the bike.

He is great people! Good luck!

yes the problem is the only one specific for the r1 that is close to us the guy wants to let the auction run through. We (he ) needs the part by wednesday afternoon. The auction won't end in time. However there are some buy it now r6 gauges. Monday i believe is a holiday, so no mail. that leaves tuesday and wednesday. The bike will run without the gauges hooked up. but no fuel light, tach, oil light etc... if something went bad, it is a long way from home.
i have been told the r6 gauges for the 03,04,05,06 are just the same gauges from the 02 r1, with the different tach face plate. Just wanted confirmation before he pays$$$ for a part that won't work plus the $60.00 shipping fee for overnight.
