header stud

Just screw it back in using the nut that wouldn't come off when you are ready to put it all back together. The other way is to use the blank in the center of the stud as your grip spot for the vise grips.. Be careful not to overtorque though...

if it is coming out clean (not pulling threads) you could pull it the rest of the way out, use 2 nuts (jam nut style) put a drop of locktite on the threads and then run it back down.. do not really need to "wrench" it down but just till it stop going in.. The locktite will do the rest.

no vice grips please....

you run 1 nut down until there are 3 or 4 thread showing, run the second nut down on top of the first one.. Hold the first nut, snug the second one down.. (they are tight against each other)

Now use the second nut to tighten the stud (this will keep the threads all happy)

After the stud is snug (do not make it very tight, just snug) now hold the first nut again, loosen the second nut.. they should both thread right off the stud

It is an error to tighten studs down very far as it weakens the connection and the stud can break off later (now you got a problem)

If there is not enough room, just use the idea Bogus gave.. Run a second nut on there to tighten the stud up.. You don't want to torque up the exhaust studs much..
