Does the installation of a HD output shaft require the cases be split? Trying to gauge whether I'll be better off working on the trans if this is the case.

If you can get the motor out, and the trans out of the cases, with the intent to put it back together yourself.........You should be able to swapout the shaft yourself

But have the shaft replaced, shift shafts, forks inspected/coated, Gears undercut
then yes send it out

If you send out your trans to us, we will undercut it and assemble with the heavy duty output shaft for no extra charge. If you want to send your shift forks, shafts and drum along, we can also inspect them for you, again, no extra charge . . .
