I like Harbor Freight and usually try not to knock their items...but the battery tenders I've bad luck with~!~

I believe I've had 3 and only one worked for a time...just found it in the garage the other day and threw it away...

Something they do have on sale right now though is the Large self standing wheel chocks...I've got 2, Kevin has 1, and I am thinking about picking up another within the next couple days...

$39.99 Usually about $69

Mine lasted about 3 months then crapped out without warning, first indication of a fault was a dead battery...

My husband LOVES harbor freight... but the battery tender that we got from there crapped out in one winter. For $20.00 you can get Deltran brand. We put one on all our bikes. I have had mine on my Busa for the past 3 years and never had any problems. Got it at Cycle Gear.

Yepper. The HF 'battery tender' has some inherent flaw. I had two. Both bellied-up in a few months. I thought the first early-failure might have been a fluke. It wasn't. BTW, CycleGear is having a sale this Friday on the real BatteryTender Jr. $19.95. Regular price $39.95.

had a few harbor freight chargers, they got me out of a few jams. I used to keep one in my rear hump. The plug always fail at the charger. I've bought about about 4-5 of those cheap chargers. The price drops to $2.99 for the sidewalk sales. I still have one new one left

You are telling me know, after I ordered. I've been using a simple AC adaptor style charger from them for years, didn't have any issues. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Will let you know how it goes in a few months.

Oh, yeah, I just sent them an email telling that a number of people had problems, and asked them to comment on that.

OK, here is the response I just got from Harbor Freight...
"""""""""""""
We literally sell hundreds of these a week and the return rate does not
even come close to the sales made. I am not even sure it would be a full
percentage of what is sold. I can not give the details but the product
is a good seller with little problems reported.

They were cheap enough I just tossed them...

Not worth the gas to run back out~!~

((Come to think of it, I did trade one of them back in for either the same brand or the next step up and it didn't work either))

Hey Outlaw, I was just looking at those yesterday at Harbor F....what do you think about the diameter on those across the neck? Are they to wide to accomodate the Busa sport (standard) wheel? Just by eyeballing them they looked to wide...whada think? 2hip

I have the hf one if you read the instructions youd see they work..people think they crap out but they only work if you hook them up properly..first of all it isnt a charger its a tender secondly you have to hook it up to the battery first then plug it in not visa versa...if you do it the other way it doesn't turn on the circuit..oh and btw..i have had mine for 3 years no failure, and it even brought my car battery back to life from almost dead(after leaving it plugged in for 5 days of course)
@8$ Iam sure there was a few bad ones...but if you have had 3 then the common denominator in that equation is you...good luck:beerchug::thumbsup:

The common denominator on it is undersized/cheap wiring. The chargers never failed. I'll try RTV black silicon on this last one to help protect the wires from failing.

that looks like the one that just burned down my Ex's garage. Not sure but looks like the one. It was brand new bought that day. My Ex-Best friend put it on the bike, got drunk passed out and 2 hours later the garage was burning down while he slept in the living room. My ex fiance lost her bike, Her dad's bike and the bike her and Doorknob just bought.
When it comes to electrical products that you do not tend to on a constant basis, I would go with nothing but HIGH QUALITY
