I'AM NEW TO FOURM. I BOUGHT A 2000 BUSA IN APRIL AND ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I DONT KNOW WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT ANY OTHER KIND OF BIKE. MINE HAS MANY MODS AND I'AM STILL ADDING THEM EACH WEEK. THAT BRINGS ME TO A QUESTION ABOUT SCREENS. I GOT A SET ON E-BAY AND THE GLUE THEY SUGGEST IS A PAIN TO WORK WITH. THEY ALSO HAVE BEEN MORE TROUBLE THAN I THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE. I ONLY HAVE THE SET ON THE TAIL AND I WAS HOPEING THAT SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THIS BEFORE COULD GIVE ME SOME POINTERS TO MAKE THIS EASIER. THAT 2 STAGE EPOXY THE MAKER SAID TO USE DOES'NT GO FAR AND ITS HARD TO BEND THE SCREENS TO GET THEM TO CONTACT THE GLUE WHILE IT DRIES I STILL HAVE THE OTHER SIX TO PUT ON SO ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE NICE. THANKS

I,ve installed several sets, and I used GOOP glue on some, and some glue called Welder, both from home depot. The trick is to put something heavy on them til they dry, and make sure you get the right BOW in them. If you have any ?, send me a PM, and I,ll help you all I can.

I have them put on Elenor... you have to use a epoxy glue, the ones that you use to bind metal/wood or a water sealent kinda epoxy. The knack is to use a abundunt quantity of it

GOOP (red tube) hat costs about $6 a tube will be enough to do all the screens. Make sure the fit is correct and put the GOOP on and put something on it to let it start to harden and then your done. About 24 hours of drying time.

My trick was hitting up Autozone and buying that plastic/metal epoxy, then I spent the better part of a day bending the grills so they flushed up about as perfect as they can against the plastic. Did not have to place anything heavy on it when I did that. I admit I suffered some gashed finger tips, cuz of the sharp metal edges...patience and time is what you are going to need. Other than that enjoy, and enjoy the looks as people really notice that mod. I did it on a Sunday, while watching football...made for useful day, while enjoying beer and football, though you will need to pick a different sport if you plan on doing it soon HAR!

I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND GOT SOME 60 SEC. EPOXY. NOW I WILL TELL YOU THEY MEAN 60 SEC. IT SETS UP QUICK SO BE READY. I SPOT GLUED THEM ON (AFTER I HAD THEM PRFORMED) GLUE TO THE SPOTS WHERE THE SCREENS TOUCH THE PLACTIC DIRECTLY ON AT LEAST THE 4 CORNERS AND ONE SPOT ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM. IT IS HARD TO GET ALL OF THE SCREEN TO TOUCH ALL THE WAY AROUND BUT THIS WONT MATTER BECOUSE NEXT GET SOME 5 MIN EPOXY AND DO THE REST OF THE SCREENS IN STAGES. I.E. MIX SOME UP AND GLUE THE TOPS MIX SOME MORE DO THE BOTTOM AND SO ON. ALSO I FOUND THAT IF YOU KEEP STIRRING THE MIXTURE AFTER ABOUT 2 TO 3 MIN IT STARTS TO GET THICK JUST BEFORE SETTING THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO LAY IT ON AS IT TENDS NOT TO FLOW OUT THROUGH THE SCREENS IT SORT OF STAYS IN PLACE. YOU WILL GO THROGH ABOUT 2 TUBES OF THE 60 SEC. STUFF AND ABOUT 5 OF TE 5 MIN. STUFF. (OH AND BY THE WAY IT WAS TOO LATE BECOUSE I ALREADY BOUGHT THE GLUE AT AUTO ZONE FOR $3.99 A TUBE BUT OVER IN THE PAINT AND CAULKING DEPT AT WALMART THEY SOLD THE EXACT SAME STUFF FOR $1.99 A TUBE LIVE AND LEARN)
JUST REMBER TO PRE-FORM YOU SCREENS FIRST THING AND AFTER YOU GET THEM TEMP GLUED ON I TOOK A SMALL BLADE SCREWDRIVER AND BENT THE REST OF THE EDGES ALL THE WAY AROUND UNTIL THEY FIT LIKE I WANTED THEM TO AGAIN THE KEY IS TO TAKE YOUR TIME IT COULD TAKE YOU 1 TO 2 HOURS A SIDE TO GET THEM ON AND I SUGESST THAT YOU DO THE TAIL SECTION FIRST IT IS THE EASYIEST TO DO AND THIS WILL LET YOU PLAY WITH THE GLUE TO SEE HOW IT SETS AND LAYS YOU WILL LIKE THE RESULTS EVERYONE THAT HAS SEEN THEM SO FAR LOVES THEM.

I got the pre-cut screens from Clark Customs, so they fit pretty well already with only a few minor bends here and there...

I used Goop Super-Weld Epoxy. It's meant for hi-heat applications. If you let it sit (after mixing) for about 2 - 4 minutes before applying to the screens, it thickens up a bit and is easier to apply. You have to let it harden overnight, but once it's in, it's like steel.

I used a small welding iron (from computer repair kit) and melted the screens into the plastic in a few places to keep the screens in place and used ultra black hi-temp silicone gasket maker....
17K+ miles later they are still holding strong....

I used a glue called JB WELD on mine. I glued one section at a time and used vice grips to hold down the different sections once the glue was in place. It may take a little time to do this mod but you wanna do it right and looks wise it is WELL worth it.
