Yeah, progressive sucks. They quoted me some ridiculous price for my old 94 ZX-9...for liability only; it was something like $860/yr $500 ded. I ended up with AAA. I had to switch my car over to them, but my car premium stayed exactly the same as I was paying before and the Busa is $360 a year, full coverage.

State Farm, USAA, are great choices...The bigger companies like Progressive and Geico will rape you...they really suck!!

I have GMAC insurance $384 a year....Works for me.

Good luck on your quest.....Don't get frustrated just keep getting quotes til you hit the company that's best for your situation.

Yep give State Farm a call.  The don't care what you ride they just want to know how much it is going to cost to fix it.

Welcome to the board.

Nationwide $540/year full coverage $500 deductible here in Ohio. I was surprised because I have never carried ins. on my 95 gsxr 750 because 7 years ago when I bought it they want $2000.00 for it. Fruck that, I'll take my chances. Anyways, with the Busa being all that it is, and being brand new, (bought it outright, so insuring for the nancer wasn't required) I decided to give my agent a call and was shocked when he came back with that quote. So for the first time in 10 years of owning a bike I actually have one that is legally insured and allowed on the streets.

Something fishy is going on! I called USAA again to get a quote for myself and my wife (as of June 12th) on both out cars and a busa, again they tell me they have to send me to progressive for bike insurance said they stoped offering it two months ago, and current customers with bike policies will have till the end of their term. My progressive account showed my record with one speeding ticket coming off on June 8th. USAA was pulling stuff out of everywhere lol said the same ticket didnt come off till July 25th I was like um WTF? then had me for an accident in 02 and a comprehensive claim in march of this year ( bought a VW Jetta on a thurs and it burned to the ground on Fri, so much for the mom and pop car dealers) then he tells me he has to call me back because of some injury claim on my 02 accident I was like UM WHAT? I am so stressed out about all this plus trying to plan a wedding I am about to go insane!!!!!!!!11

Please don't think I am a prick here. The fact is though that your age and location is working against you. With those two strikes against you, you had better have a CLEAN driving record or sadly you better give up on any superbike. This is the nature of the insurance business. Any claim against a policy is going to count against you irreguardless of fault or circumstance.

Put all your vehicles on State Farm you will get multi-car discounts. Plus the longer your with them without incident you get better rates. I pay around $375 a year with state farm, thats $36 a month with $500 deductable. I did an online quote with Progressive, $3000 a year. Progressive can blow me. I would go with out ins. instead of paying that. Absolutly go State Farm. By the way I have plus 6 points on my record, never had accident and that the quote I got from Pro. THEY SUCK!!!!

Somethings up dude. I just renewed my policy with USAA less than a month ago and there was nothing about Progressive taking over the policy. Maybe just a Florida thing?

Fine points and one other thing to add is your CREDIT RATING.
When I walked into State Farm, the first thing my agent did was run a credit check. He said it makes a HUGE difference in what you pay.

If you shop around for insurance and get quotes from 12 different places, you'll see a dozen hits on your credit report...they all do it.

People who can't manage their money, live way beyond their means (just because you're "approved" for that toy doesn't mean you can afford it), have no savings and buy everything on credit end up getting bit in the ass in more ways than one later in life...and you can bet the insurance industry will be there to take a nice chunk out of your rear end too.

1-800-42GEICO got me insured for $77.00 a year ! ! !

Over 25, my Busa is paid off, I mentioned Karen Stoffer & I drive good.

I told them that I wanted the absolute minimum for insurance.

This way I can register my Busa without big payments.

$77.00 bucks a year is less than $7.00 a month.

If you need full coverage, it will cost more.

But if you own your bike, this is cheap.

Yeah, most of us can get insurance for under $80 a year but a people who can afford $10K toys are typically at a point in life where they have something to lose.
State minimum works out real good...until you get into an accident that's your fault.

Hit someone and that $15K minimum might cover the persons first hour in the trauma ward.

Of course they'll sue you for everything you've got and basically own you.

Damn some of these quotes blow me away......they're all over the board.....from 77 a year to 16,000.....wtf is up with that massive of a spread.
I'll bet ya you can talk to any CDN on the board, and we're within a few hundred dollars of each other, as long as the driving records are roughly the same.......may be a bit higher in Ontario....I heard their rates were high!!
I pay $1300 a year......2 mil liability, fire, theft, vandalism, no collision on the bike...I go down and it's my fault, I fix it.
Collision roughly doubles your insurance rate up here.
It's a bit of a gamble with no collision, yes.....but after riding for 15 years with no drops, I've saved almost $20,000......pretty much worth the gamble in my case.....guess I was lucky!!!

Those prices you said are in CN dollars correct? I just got off the phone with Progressive, and they quoted me $1800/yr full coverage. Not too bad considering my driving record. I have one speeding ticket in the last three years, I'm 24, but I have a DWI from 5/01. Progressive is the only inusrance company that I know of that covers bikes and only goes back 35 months. They are my only option, unless someone else knows of any other insurance comp. that go back less than 3 years on the record. Anyone?

Now I just have to decided if it is worth the $160/month.
