Will never sell my gen 3 but after 5000 + miles felt the need for a special dedicated sports bike. Wanted as pure an experience & don’t think I could have made a better choice, this bike is violent & demands 110% focus to ride. The busa by comparison is so comfortable & easy to ride, the Superleggera is ultra sensitive but feels so special. The Superleggera has 205 hp so is marginally more power than the Busas 190 hp but the Superleggera is almost 200 lbs lighter than the Busa !!! It’s such a phenomenal machine & gives me a sensation like nothing else I’ve ever ridden but nothing beats the Busa to put highway miles on. The Busa is like a Bugatti, the Superleggera is like a dedicated cup car, I love them both & could not feel more fortunate to own these 2 incredible machines.

Niiice, the weight difference must really be something. Some years back I had its lil brother, an L Twin 999 with the same over/under headlights as the Busa. Was great for tooling around the hills north of Santa Cruz for a few hours but any longer and my wrists would howl. I managed 158 with it once.

What is that CF ‘lump’ under the seat?

It's probably a heat shield for the exhaust

That 999 still looks beautiful today and I couldn’t agree with you more as far as comfort as that is by no means Ducati’s strong suit - lol - As far as the piece you’re referring too under the seat I believe it’s a heat shield for the exhaust.

Thank you and agreed, also not sure why they have not significantly upped the power on the Busa’s also.
A friend of mine had a beautiful red 916 in the day and that bike to me was "sex on 2 wheels" I really liked the way that bike looked (riding it was another story), this bike reminds me of that 916...it's almost elegant.

No doubt the Ducati sports bikes are amongst the prettiest bikes to exist. To me this Superleggera looks like a piece of art.

Very cool!!!!!

Curious about why you lift the back, but use a wheel chock on the front?

I don't ride often, but use to lift only the back. Caused flat spots on the front, with vibration noticeable once over 120mph.

I find the wheel chock so convenient and stable and just ride into it upon entering my garage.

Early GSXR1100. Later GSXR front end and rear wheel, pipe and flatslides, dyna coils, 750 fairing, Airtech tail, Ducati shock etc. It’s a mongrel bitsa but put together well.
Mongrels are the best kind.....I'll bet it's a fun bike to ride.

I remember when the 999 came out. It was the most hated thing Ducati had released in a long time. I was on that bandwagon. I mean no offence to the member here that owned one but going from the absolute work of art that was the 916/996/998 to well, "that" people weren't fans.

A while ago I watched this video regarding Ducati and specifically the 999....which was in my opinion a stellar bike but it had big styling shoes to fill following it's predecessors.

This Ducati was in the top 10 ugliest bikes...
