ok, for those that don't know, bike went down last fall, just getting it back together now. took it for a quick ride (without side or tail fairings, lol) only up to 35-40, but i noticed my handlebars are tweaked slightly to the right. is it possible they twisted (5-8˚, maybe) in the fall? 5 mph in a parking lot, i couldn't have bent the forks, could i? they still look straight, but i dunno. i hope they're not f'd. any way to get them lined up with the handlebars again?

Depending how you landed they could have bent. Not too likely from the sound of it.
I would get the front end up and loosen the clamps on the forks and move them back and forth a bit and retighten.
When I do mine I tighten the bottoms and then compress the forks a couple of times and tighten the tops.
Use a torque wrench.
I bet that fixes it.

lol, that's what i was doing in the garage as you responded. straightened out afaik. i'll check the next time i putt around the hood. but it's noticeably better. i was out there thinking, "there's no way these beefy stinkin forks would be bent from that little tipover" i will say tho, 2-3 inches lower in the rear makes for a much more "cruiser like" riding position. got her up to about 4500 in first, quickest acceleration i've experienced since she went down.

Everything might have twisted in the triple clamps, you need to support the front end off the ground loosen everything up and see if they will move back!
