Fmu vs fuel regulator

I m a newbie to the turbo set up
And try to understand the way it work
What s the fmu
Do I need one if I using an external fuel regulator

FMU - fuel management unit, aka - rising rate fuel regulator. Could be 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, there are different ones out there. It is used most on Stage One turbos to extend the "range" of the injectors used and changes fuel pressure relative to boost pressure . . .
